If I own ppl money i rather sell away my hdb than to declare bankrupt n no need to pay. I believe in karma, this life don't pay nx life pay with interest. O$P$ again it's the conscious thingy. Not trying to hide inside hdb n declare bankrupt.
No ppl go bust for nothing, i will face the consequences of what I hv done. I may not be rich, I am at least pround of that little moral I have.

When my wife and I got our BTO many years ago, we spent about $15000 on renovations and furniture. We didn't have much money then. For renovation, we simply ordered decent tiling, installed grills, had the walls painted and installed basic kitchen cabinets. We left the toilet tiles as they were.

There's no need for sinkies to spend $50,000 on renovations. If they choose to, they can't fault the PAP for that.

$50k renovation for a $500k flat is only 10 percent. If you are going to live in that flat for 20 years or more, that expenditure is not extravagant.

By not allowing sinkies to use HDB flats as collateral, HDB owners can never be kicked out of their homes and be made homeless when they go bust. That's why I still keep my HDB flat even though I've moved to a bungalow years ago.

It would be great if HDB released statistics on average loan tenor of outstanding mortgages. The average is 20 odd years amongst those I know of.

Not allowing the HDB to be used as collateral diminishes claims of ownership over a a lease. It is the primary reason I avoided HDB property despite housing grants for first timers.

With a 99 year leashold condo and above, a buyer can unlock her CPF OA monies via cash out loans and this creates liquidity for investments in businesses etc.

This is another impediment to social mobilty and keeps the poor, well... poor. There is no way of unlocking the value of one's HDB flat without selling it.

If I own the asset, I expect to be able to deal with it however I wish.

We should consider allowing HDB owners to pledge a portion of the value of their HDB as collateral for loans, maybe up to 50%. In the event of default, they can still downgrade to a smaller place with the remaining 50% value after foreclosure by the banks.

At this point in our history, I am more inclined to believe what oppie politicians and activists say. Because the establishment will say or do anything to stay in power, to protect their lucrative careers, and to throw smoke over contentious issues.

Before sinkies ask for hdb to be same benefits as 99 year condo, please pay the same property tax amount and pay conservancy and utilities charges with zero rebates. And don’t ask for bailout like Vers.

Oh ya my small condo property tax is probably ten times a three room flat property tax. So I pay one year property tax is like hdb sinkies pay ten years.

And that’s based on the tax I have been paying of close to 2k a year. How much property tax do hdb sinkies pay when they rent out their 3 room flat?

There is still plenty of undeveloped state land in Singapore. I have come to not accept what the PAP LEEders say at face value. It's likeLEE to be half-truths and the information cleverLEE controlled to fit or fix their objective. On most occasions, they are Party first.
