How good is RSAF ?

On land (and on paper) it's walkover if Singapore attacks Malaysia.

Singapore 80,000 regulars + 320,000 reservists.

Malaysia 70,000 regulars + 50,000 reservists (mostly camped north of KL).

On air (but still on paper), it's still walkover for Singapore.

Singapore 400 aircrafts.

Malaysia 250 aircrafts (with all airbases in north of KL).

It's obvious that Malaysia thinks Singapore is a joke. Kick it out. Don't bother. The real threat, if any, is from Thailand.

However, Captain Goh Meng Seng has assured me that's no joke. He personally guarantees that Johor falls before noon if Singapore army sets out before dawn.

I didn't use "All" because sane people avoid wars: chinese minority, working poor,...

Even if a tiny portion of the Indonesia's population of 240 million got involved in a tiff with Spore, it could spell big problems for Spore. I remember how one escaped Mas brough so much delays to the ferry schedues & causway traffic.

Haven't listened to LKY in years, probably heard most of what he's sprouting years ago. Nowadays its just a repeat or self serving propaganda

Maybe 'some' Indonesians may decide to help Malaysia on a private basis, but too simplistic to think that there will be govt-to-govt alliance. In the ME, when Israel was taking out bases in Jordan, how many Muslim states in the region went in to help Hamas?

LKY's likening of Singapore to Israel is part of history, and was used as a fear-mongering tool to justify NS and the defence budget. He no longer says that nowadays.

Even the languages in both countries are differently written and pronounced -Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia.

It's possible. I understood that our new Leopard tanks can reach KL in less than a day. That is, provided the streets and highways are not strewn with rubble and debris from air strikes and fallen buildings.

Ditto no debris in S'pore obstructing the start.

This sort of reminded me of our SAF camp in Brunei. Some of the malay population used to drive in to the camp canteen and sat down to a nice cool can of beer. Cos outside of it, they must be all holy and righteous..:D

Even today Brunei must be one of the most boring places to be stuck in. :D

It's not so boring in Jakarta or KL but the filthy rich rich(elites) still need a place like Spore to buy rolex watches, diamonds, gamble, medical care ,..

i remembered during my NS time over there, the brunei tv broadcasts 'quran reading competition' live. other than that it is someone is forever reading some quran verses. boring is an understatement:eek:

yeah i was attached there at the Muara camp for 3 months and just about the most exciting thing in BSB then was watching the rats scampering up and down the display shelves...:D

RSAF is a waste of money for useless general.

RSAF only work if army work.

basically singapore is undefendable.

it is too near malaysia coast. if they put up their SAM over their side.
our air force are grounded.

we cannot defend against their surprise attack, basically we have no ground to fall back on.

the only way it work, is preemtive strike. but there lies the problem, does our million dollar politicans and rich generals have the balls to attack malaysia first without US approval.

Dont forget Sino-Vietnam war in 1979. With so many FTs here, there will be a lot of sabotagig internally. You cant win a war with only air superiority. Vietnam will have USSR equipment. Dont forget that the Japs had spieshere in SG before they landed their troops here. Those that learnt Japanese quikly aftr the Japanese came here were already traitors and spies for the Japs.

Exactly. Singapore paid US truckloads of money to buy hardware, software and training. One just don't say bad things about fee-paying students and customers. I'm not saying that RSAF pilots are necessarily bad or below par, but there's no war to test that. And we don't want a war with anyone, do we?

We don't want war with anyone. But we could have participated in operation Desert Storm's air war. A few of our F-16s could have been integrated into a USAF unit, and flown with them. There have been opportunities to find out what our pilots are made off, but these opportunities were not taken. There is always some war somewhere that is sanctioned by the UN and where we can participate on a very limited scale.

same same like when PRC chicken say "wow, u very strong, yours very long/big/thick, u last very long. :D:p

Goddamnit, I thought they were giving their honest opinion. I am very depressed now. :D

What I've read differs, and what I read came from US fighter pilots. Most of them agreed that their aircrafts at that time were technically inferior due to complacency in technical deveopment between WW1 and WW2 years.

The high kill ratios were due to superior intelligence and superior strategic command and planning, not due to technical superiority of the aircrafts. A troop of elite commandoes led by Guan Yu could also be cornered and captured by Lu Meng when pride and complacency blinded the strategic requirements.

This might have been the case in the early years of the war when you have planes like the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk and the Grumman Wildcat as the mainstay fighters. In the latter half of the war, much better US aircraft appeared. In no way did those pilots think their planes were inferior. I know of no publication that has quoted a P-51 pilot as saying hisplane was inferior to a Me 109. for example.

The point he was trying to make was that it was happening on a regular basis.

Sad thing about my friend, he was one of those technician who joined with GCE 'O levels. For anyone familaiar with SAF's history, these people were eventually discarded & replaced by poly students.

Yeah, they were some of the early AETI batches. Actually, they are very competent. Some went to work for SQ, especially those engine mechs. The armourers did not have any other viable options.

I doubt Spore needs 50 choppers, air space is so limited :)

It's amazing just how wealthy Spore "was"

All those billions squandered on a 3G force: all those $$$ that goes to paying those paper general, brigadiers & hardware. When you add the billions losst by Temask, multi-millions salaries paid to those PAP MP & civil servants.

The amount of $$$$ wasted is mind boggling just mid boggling:eek:

Its no wonder the peanut lady made the famous peanut statement

Don't forget they set up an entire new bureucracy (DSTA) with its own buildings and BOD and staff to evaluate fighters on behalf of the air force:D What a joke, we have the only air force inthe world that needs a civilian civil service agency to tell it which planes to buy.

The rats in Spore are bigger & fatter rats :p

It is civilian run but is it privately owned by non party porlumpars? Oh yeah! Just in case many of you don't know, there's plenty of FT in DSTA.

Dont forget that the Japs had spieshere in SG before they landed their troops here.s.

Saw a documentary about WW2 and it seems that many of those travelling barbers in Spore were spies from the Jap army, some were colonels:)

Wouldn't surprised me if some of the KTV /working girls are spies :D

Alot of attention is being focused on external threats but who is watching the foxes in the henhouse  Only have 2 old men in there

Everyone know about Temasek losses, muti-million dollar salaries of civil servants,.... Bet there are more rotten eggs to be discovered

Is it any wonder why so many are leaving

That is why I keep telling people that the PAP will never allow itself to lose power legitimately inan election. Thenew incoming govt. will find all the rotten eggs and we will have to end up executing elites for economic crimes.
