How good is RSAF ?

I know it must be very tough for yr generation, even a mopping up op is expected to be a tea party. But it would not be tough for me. I expect blood, gore, even death in war. If you are properly trained and conscientiously doing yr reservist, it wont be a walk in the park but you'll make it. Is that too tough?

My generation? Sorry, like you, I already RODed.

Seems like you have comprehension problems or amnesia. It was YOU who asked "how tough can it get". I never said it was a walk in the park. I said it was tough.

I will not attack you personally by calling you a bold faced liar. But it's painfully obvious from your constant twisting of your own words, your aerial D- Day via tanks and Chinooks (which you called double whirlies), your bunker busting Patriots, confusion between political will and military might in Vietnam, your trying to impress Papsmearer with your "DEFCON" knowledge, etc etc, that something does not add up.

I personally know someone who was not highly educated, was not an officer or specialist, was not well versed in military matters but was involved in higher ops planning and wargames. He was the CO runner :)

i dont see y cant they reduce to 12mths where there are so many countries are doing it

Yes, many countries have reduced their NS period, and some countries have eliminated it altogether. eg. taiwan is going to eliminate it, and I believe many of the NATO countries have already gotten rid of it. But the military planners in S'pore have determined that they need a quick reaction standing army at any one time of about 78,000-80,000. The conscript component of this is about 38,000. But the normal intake size every year is only about 18,000. Therefore, if they only reduce NS to 12 months, than they will have a standing force of 60,000 or less. That is why they need to keep 2 years worth of intakes In order for them to reach this force level. Of course other things can be done to reduce the NS time. One would be to increase the SAF regulars size by 1 years worth of intakes or 18,000. But this will cost the SAF much more money, and you will have a situation of where there are entire regular Infantry regiments and other NSmen regiments. Or one could eliminate NS altogether by going to a 100% volunteer force, but all of this cost more money now than paying 40,000 NSmen peanuts a month.

Yes, I am truly impressed with Kingrant's military knowldege. I am sure any americans reading this will be amazed at the new found capabilities of their patriot missile system.:D Anyway, there is a new thread somewhere here on the IDF Iron Bowl ABM system. Interesting read.

Patriot is not meant to be a strike missile, it's meant to be an anti-missile missile.

Hope the Americans do not read this or they will mark up the price of the Patriot. This is top secret info discovered by the SAF so only we should profit from it. We should buy them in bulk from the USA and re-market them as ALL- purpose missiles.

Perhaps he will claim that we can recycle our Bloodhounds to be used as cruise missiles next :)

You referring to the post about the SG sponsored ABM system? Yeah, that was interesting.

Ya, how tough can it get to attack a shell-shocked enemy? You wld encounter some resistance, that could get you killed. But is that considered tough?

Preemptive strikes, arty, armour and naval bombardment before infantry thrust has been SAF tactics all along. You have another D-Day type of defense?

Airlifting armour is still relatively new even to NATO I read. But it has been experimented by the U.S. via C-17s and Antonovs. So I was already being creative here. Off the top of my head, I ventured chinooks and ok, I was mistaken. It had to be fixed wings and I corrected that.

Not patriots? Ok I think it was Deep Throat GBU. Whatever, I recalled it was a bunker buster, and if the US had deployed that in Vietnam, I daresay it wld have change the outcome.

Not true eroded political will played a big part in the US defeat? You mean I lied about that too?

Well, you dunno me and I dunno you.

Thanks. I stand corrected. I was referring to the bunker buster actually. It's a GBU nicked Deep Throat that got Saddam it seems.

Bloodhound? Now I'm sure you're kidding. That's 50's - 70's anti-aircraft stuff. Very bulky but can't shoot down any Mig 35 or Su 30 now. Scrapped. Anti-missile and cruise missile are completely diffierent games and stuff. Patriot is patriot and cruise is cruise. Cruise can be nuke.

So it wasnt a Patriot, but I wasnt thinking missile systems anyway, I was thinking those guided bombs that can bust 20 ft deep bunkers. Just got the name wrong.

Nothing compared to the preposterous theory of yrs at the beginning of this thread that the RSAF is only meant to service other countries forces, viz the U.S. I am sure you pay yr taxes and you will sit still and do nothing? Every mother is going to risk her son on the jets fighting OP's wars and you think they are ok with it?

Where did you come up with such a bizarre tale?
