Sheren Tang Signs With New Management Company

Shifting her career to China in recent years, Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) is one of the few Hong Kong actresses to have found success in the transition.

Recently, Sheren confirmed that she has signed with new management company, Haohan Entertainment, which is under the Chinese multinational entertainment company, Huayi Brothers Media Corp. Haohan Entertainment’s major investors include Li Chen (李晨), Angelababy (楊穎), Feng Shaofeng (馮紹峰), Chen He (陳赫), Zheng Kai (鄭愷), and Du Chun (杜淳). The agency manages artistes Tina Tang Yixin (唐藝昕), Ethan Ruan (阮經天), and Elane Zhong Chuxi (鍾楚曦).

Sheren announced the good news through social media and shared several photos of herself dressed in a classic black, figure-hugging dress. “Starting afresh with a new family. Let us write and produce great products together.”

The actress’ latest move indicates her long-term dedication to the Mainland Chinese market. After filming 2013’s Beauty at War <金枝慾孽貳>, Sheren had a fallout with TVB and has not taken part in another drama with the station since. Although it was rumored that she would return to film Rosy Business 4 <巾幗梟雄4> alongside Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), the drama may not enter production because of lack of Mainland Chinese investor support.

Benjamin Yuen Slips That Mandy Wong is Married?

1629383348119.png

Known for her easy going personality, Mandy Wong (黃智雯) has been protective of her nine-year relationship with jewelry executive, Anthony Jim (詹文天). Living together in Anthony’s 2000-square-foot home in the Mid-Levels East, it is said Mandy is already secretly married.

A recent slip in a live stream with friends Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Joel Chan (陳山聰), and Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) indicate that the rumors may hold some weight. During the chat, Mandy’s WiFi connection was choppy, and at one point she disappeared from the chat completely. Ben joked that her WiFi probably got cut because she was borrowing it, “or her husband came out and told her to hang up!” He quickly realized his mistake and instantly followed up with, “She’s not married yet…haha!” Nancy also tried to save the situation and added, “Stop making things up!”

Luckily, Mandy did not mind Benjamin’s mistake and laughed it off during an interview, “If it were true, then everyone would know! Benjamin spoke too fast and made an honest mistake–at least it’s entertaining everyone right now!”

However, Mandy shared that marriage is her end goal, and did not rule out the possibility of a flash wedding. She praised her boyfriend for being trustworthy, as he is not someone to make empty promises. “Both of us would enjoy a two-person wedding. If we have to worry about a big wedding or accide

Fans need not worry that her career will be affected by marriage, as Many plans to continue acting until old age. Completely immersing herself in work, Mandy would sometimes get lost in thoughts about her jobs when speaking with her boyfriend.

Compared to other lead actresses, Mandy rarely has any juicy news or rumors to keep her in the public’s eyes despite winning TVB Most Improved Female Artiste and My Favorite Female Character awards. She acknowledges this, but feels that it is important to have work-life balance. “I may not talk about my private matters publicly, so maybe the media feels that I am a bit mysterious. However if you ask me then, I will talk about it. My creativity is lacking, so I won’t be able to think of any interesting answers for you.”

TVB Announces 20 Miss Hong Kong Contestants After Elimination Rounds

1629468041421.png

With Miss Hong Kong 2021 taking a reality show format this year, the contestants’ special training segment was aired as We Miss Hong Kong STAY-cation. The 28 contestants faced various obstacles and challenges to showcase their strengths, with only 20 contestants remaining after the elimination rounds.

In the first two episodes, the contestants were separated into four teams, in which the lowest scoring member of the lowest scoring team would be eliminated from the competition. Each contestant had to give a self-introduction, and then the mentors, who were former Miss Hong Kong winners, would choose which participants they wanted on their team.

TVB executives, Virginia Lok (樂易玲) and Eric Tsang (曾志偉), were also watching the contestants’ performance closely to determine the scoring. Not pleased with what she saw, Ms. Lok pointed out that one of the contestant’s flabby stomach was sticking out, while Eric pointed out that another looked like she was going to the market to shop.

When it was time to eliminate a contestant from the competition, it was between Mona Zhao (趙美倫) and Angel Yu (余曉蕙), who performed poorly during her self-introduction. The executives were most unimpressed with Mona Zhao (趙美倫), who fell asleep when she was not chosen by the mentors, and was eliminated.

The rankings of each team also determined which room they would be staying in. Given that the orange team scored the highest, each contestant was awarded a luxurious suite with two levels, a huge bathtub, and patio. The green and pink teams were given regular living suites, while the losing red team had to sleep in tents on the roof. The red team, which includes Eddie Kwan’s (關禮傑) daughter Fabienne Kwan (關楓馨), was shocked by the living arrangements, but made the most out of the experience.

Ali Lee Reveals True Reason Behind Breakup

1629811942247.png

Winning viewers over as android robot Abby in the currently airing series AI Romantic <智能愛人>, many felt that actress Ali Lee (李佳芯) delivered another Best Actress-worthy performance in the challenging role. Sadly, her blossoming career luck did not spill over to her personal life – as signs of her relationship woes with longtime boyfriend Danny Chan (陳炳銓) emerged in May; this was later confirmed when Ali admitted her back-to-singlehood status.

Following swirling rumors that she was being pursued by a new suitor, the 38-year-old finally addressed her breakup on a recent interview. Ali shared that after a career high of winning Best Actress award for her role in 2018’s Who Wants A Baby? <BB來了>, she was keen to take the next step into marriage, and therefore proposed to then-boyfriend Danny about committing to spend the rest of their lives together. However, this ironically led to much tension in the relationship as the couple could not see eye to eye on marriage, and eventually went splitsville, after seven years of dating. As she had been filming AI Romantic then, Ali numbed the pain of the breakup by throwing herself fully into work.

Talks About Her Ex
Calling her ex-boyfriend a “good man,” she thinks that “being in a relationship is something [that’s] between two persons, there shouldn’t be a [perception of] inequality,” and feels that their mutual friends would understand why she loves him. Adding that Danny is reliable, kind-hearted, a good teacher and listening ear, Ali felt that their relationship would turn out even stronger were they able to enter the marriage phase together, only it was a pity they could not take it to the next stage.

Although they were not able to spend the rest of their lives together, Ali remains friends and keeps in contact with Danny, and recently got him to share his opinions on the production aspects of a microfilm she was working on. Despite the heartbreak, Ali concluded that she is still keen on marriage, and looks forward to starting a new relationship.

The Miss Hong Kong 2021 semi-finals took place on August 22, with featured segments including talent performances, swimwear and evening wear appearances. The top 12 contestants were selected, and the Wai Yin Association’s Love and Charity Award was given to Katerina Leung (梁菁琳).

At the end of Sunday night’s semi-finals, Angel Yu (余曉蕙), Michelle Cheung (張嘉倩), Fiona Dai (戴佳敏), and Anna Wang (王嫿嫿) were eliminated in round two.
The hot favorites for this year, Yvette Chan (陳聖瑜) and Carina Leung (梁凱晴) both made it into the semi-finals. As for being the favorites in the pageant, Carina hopes to just present herself confidently, while Yvette values the friendship between the contestants. “We are on the same team so we practice together.”
Carina was the most nervous about the dancing segment, given their lack of time in preparation and pointed out that contestant Cathy Wong got injured during practice, which made everyone feel even more nervous. When asked if injuries would lessen the competition, both Carina and Yvette said that teamwork creates the best show.
