atheism is the best. God won't help or save you.
Agree, atheism is the best. There's no "God" to begin with, it does not exist.
Many people in this world need solace and that makes them susceptible to the brainwashing of religion.

............ Atheists also seek God when their perfect world gets upset and things spiral out of control - such as contacting terminal illness, in need of help for some major problem etc
Actually, no one can said to be an atheist. Everyone has a religion or has some forms of cardinal belief.
Money is a religion if you love it more than anything in life.
Atheists have a religion and that is existentialism. Their belief is that this is the only life there is , so they live it in the way they want. After all who knows what comes after death.
Vast majority of atheists I know are those doing well in life and see no need for religion. So, their atheism depends entirely on life continuing to be good for them. Only a small handful turned to atheism because they were disillusioned that their religious prayers were not answered.
On the other hand, the vast majority of Ashkenazi Jews who survived the Holocaust and are now settled largely in America and Israel have given up on religion because Jehovah did not answer their cries for help. They number in the millions, more than the atheists you know who are 'doing well in life'.
Some of these disillusioned Jews and their progeny have found solace in the more coherent Eastern religions of Buddhism – mainly Mahayana (Zen, Tibetan) – and the various sects of Hindu Yoga. You find a lot of these New Age Jews in Hollywood and New York, most of whom are middle to upper middle class.
Buddhism only seems nice because it has been sweetened by Judeo-Christian concepts of liberty and freedom. Leave Buddhism and whatever Eastern religions to its own devices, you will find that society will gravitate towards a cruel, totalitarian society with a very rigid social structure, like what we see in China, Tibet, Korea and Japan before the modern era.
What rubbish are you spouting?
First, Buddhism and Taoism are 500 years older than Christianity. Hinduism is at least 4,000 years old, probably older. If anything, Christianity has been influenced by Buddhism and the great Eastern traditions, as Bertrand Russell alluded to.
Second, conditions in mediaeval Christian Europe for 1,500 years were lot more totalitarian and intolerant of liberty and freedom of thought. Ask Gallileo and Copernicus and Marco Polo. Compare the glorious reigns of the Tang and Sung dynasties with the Crusades and witch-hunts and Inquisitions. Talk about rigid social structure – were you there to witness the barbarism 1,000 years ago when the Angles were fighting the Saxons? Life under Roman rule?
Third, Western concepts of liberty and freedom came not because of, but despite Christianity. (I've left out the shamanistic religion of Judaism since it's ironic to talk about Jewish values when the Jews have been the most persecuted group in Europe in the past 2,000 years.) The factors that led to modern-day Western democracy were the Scientific Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution, the establishment of a secular state and separation of Church from State, and the revolution of the hoi polloi.
Liberté, egalité, fraternité – heard of it? That didn't come from the Bible. If the Christian clergy could have their way, Europe would be more primitive than Asia today.
The Scientic Englightenment and Industrial Revolution took place in Judeo-Christian lands, not lands infected with Buddhism and Taoism. If left to its own devices, Buddhists and Taoists today would still be living under feudal rule, heads getting lopped off for criticizing their betters.
Can't you read? The Scientific Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution took place in Christian lands (not Judaeo-Christian – Jewish ghettos in Eastern Europe and Russia in the early centuries don't count as culture, otherwise we'd have to include the gypsies and Muslim Spanish Moors too).
But not because of Christianity. Just because some revolution happens in a particular place does not mean local religion is the cause. It's like saying that Taoism and Zen Buddhism and Confucianism were the causes of the Cultural Revolution. Sheesh.
If you read Guns, Germs and Steel by the renowned historian and anthropologist Jared Diamond, you'd know he attributed – backed by solid research – the rise of science and the industrial revolution in Europe to geography, not religion. In fact Chrisitianity impeded the scientific advancement in Europe: if the Pope and Church did not hold so much sway over the hereditary rulers of Europe, the enlightenment would have come 500 years earlier!
Why are you contradicting yourself? If this is the only life there is, then there is nothing that comes after death. There wouldn't be a "who knows".
Many Christian bitches like you love to smear atheism. Atheism is merely the lack of belief in supernatural gods. I am an atheist and I believe we have multiple lives through rebirth.
