You are totally defensive of PRC; this was all about who you will side, PRC or ROC. And I picked ROC. And I gave the reason why - and it's totally based on humanitarian reasons. You have a problem with that?
If you think I sound like Uncle Same, well, China (or more accurately the capitalists in China) are growing rich because of Uncle Sam's consumers (just like Japan did.)
I've been to China a couple of times, as a tourist and as a business rep. Rest of the time I spend travelling to other countries. I much prefer Thailand.
China will grow day by day - just like most countries who tie in with the rest of the world - it is nothing exceptional nor to trumpet over. I have Chinese friends and we invite each other to our homes; and they don't like communism nor corruption.
Now I pose this to you - PRC told the world back then that political reforms will come when economic progress is made. Alright, now that PRC is the second largest economy in the world, is she also second in press freedom, political freedom and/or government transparency. If not second, then what position?
No one is against making money; but when the less fortunate in society are trampled over by the better-off and the majority in that society are apathetic - that is pathetic.
I like China in many ways - one of them is beer is unimaginably cheap, even the import brands.
Cheers!

Whatever you say (you sounds like uncle Sam) China will still grow day by day.Again I dont think you have travelled to China enough??I am now in China and you can see so many Westerners here working side by side with the Chinese people and all the air tickets from Europe are full.................
As I say again "you gain some, and you will lose some, that's life".........But tomorrow China will still grow in threathening speed and will the Chinese will continue to adjust to the better with improving standard of living................Cheers
