"Back to school! After 6 weeks of holidays, it was quite an experience for my wife and I to go down to the void deck today just after 6am and wait for two school buses to carry our kids off to the first day of school for 2016. Happily, no one had any trouble waking up on time."

6 am, that early?
What time does school start?

When I was growing up in Singapore, school starts at 0730 to 1230 or 1300 to 1830 hours.
In Toronto, school starts at 0830 or 0845.

For my kids in Singapore, school starts at 0730 to 1330 (Mon-Thur), on Fridays 0730 to 1530.

If my kids take the school bus to school, the bus will pick them up at 0610. But I drive my kids to school instead so that they get an additional 45 minutes of sleep. They take the school bus home.

[/h] The sun was scorching but the clear blue sky, the gentle breeze and the residents' smiles made it an enjoyable Saturday morning for the awesome WP East Coast GRC volunteers and I. Our first day of landed house visits in East Coast GRC saw many interesting conversations on topics like the need for alternative voices in Parliament and the cost of living. Many residents encouraged us to hold events in the estate.

The Workers’ Party strongly condemns the deadly bomb attacks in Jakarta earlier today.

We hope the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon and fully support the Singapore government's assistance to the Indonesian government.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and to the people of Indonesia.
