A great start to the day. At the first coffeeshop we went to, one supporter had our umbrella and flag from 4.5 years ago with him. Thanks for the enthusiastic support!

Thanks, management and residents of Lagoon View.

We are pleased that the management of Lagoon View allowed us to do door-to-door visits to residents this afternoon, which they had also allowed during GE2011. We met some who remembered our visit in 2011. We also met new residents who have shifted in since 2011, as well as my college classmate and several Facebook friends. Some had been waiting eagerly for us since 2 pm and we took a while to finally finish the last block by 6 pm. Touched that some residents prepared cold drinks waiting for us to arrive and one even had his WP flag from 2011 outside his door signalling his welcome. I was glad to sign on the flag for him.

After a long afternoon, we were refreshed by biscuits and specially made Masala tea from a local Indian family. They even told us the formula for making Masala tea from first principles - the right proportion of water, milk, masala tea and spices (grounded from the one in the last picture).

Thank you once again for making our visit so pleasant.

At WP's SG50 dinner. An evening for us to celebrate our home and to let emotions run high.
Thought I'd share some of my favourite shots of the dinner. Tomorrow, we go back to work.

This was Daniel Goh's speech for the Punggol East By-Election in January 2013. I admire Daniel and many of my colleagues with the WP. Do think about supporting the WP as it works towards first persuading the government that its correct path is not short-term economic gain, but to better the lives of hard working Singaporeans as well as our childrens' futures. ‪#‎theutilityofastrongopposition‬

Active ageing with Qigong.

Met this group of residents of the area during our visit to Marine Drive market on Sat morning. Each day they will be at East Coast beach from 7-8am to exercise, then after that will be breakfast fellowship.

Great way to stay healthy and active. Keep it up!

"I wish to share some practical concerns for SIT going forward.

First is the lack of a single campus, unlike the other universities. A physical campus is important to generate a sense of identity and belonging amongst the students. SIT facilities are decentralised across the different polytechnics, dispersed throughout Singapore. Students will be at the polytechnic where their programmes are being offered. They feel a greater sense of identity with the polytechnic rather than with SIT. SIT also does not have hostel living which NUS and NTU have, which can provide important experiences for university students in their total development.

While I understand the history of SIT and why it was decentralised at its formation, it may be useful to consider a central campus in the future when it becomes feasible to do so. Meanwhile, SIT may have to work harder at building its identity amongst students through programmes that may cut across physical facilities."

Above was from my speech in Parliament on 17 Feb 2014 in support of the Singapore Institute of Technology Bill. Good to know the centralised campus is now identified. Look forward to SIT playing a key role in the development of our local talents, particularly in the applied / practice-oriented sectors.

Below was how I had ended that speech last year:

"SIT will certainly face a lot of challenges competing with our other local universities in order to establish itself. I look forward to the 'can-do' spirit in its pioneers to define the Institute of Technology brand in their own way to make it one that will be as desired as the rest of our universities."

Believe in yourselves, pioneers of SIT and prove yourselves against the rest!

Was amazed and touched by this young girl tonight, whom I think is still in preschool.

While we were speaking to her mother during our night house visits, she went to the kitchen, took a stool and reached for something from up the cupboard. It turned out to be her already opened packet of chocolate. It was already nearly empty. She took one piece out each for my volunteer helper and I and asked us to have it. The chocolate tasted really good, more heavenly than Orh Luak :) !

Really well taught. Thank you!

We were about to break for lunch after our visits but I noticed a lady walking down the stairs and decided to greet her. Out of the many things we talked about, she asked me: Why oppose for the sake of it? I am glad and thanked her for asking that question so I could have the opportunity to clarify. I shared that we are not opposing simply for the sake of opposing. The Workers' Party cares very much about the future and progress of Singapore, and her people. We are here to contribute to an alternative voice in parliament, and to provide a Choice for the voters. Beautiful week ahead, Singapore!

"One trend has become clear: In all constituencies where the Workers' Party (WP) is contesting, there are almost no new PAP faces - and no potential new ministers at all."
