Tracy - There's an unwritten rule in the SAF that state you can pretty much do anything you want as long as you don't get caught. And Insubordination is a Chargable offence while a weekend of F1 duties earns the NS boys couple days of off in lieu.

Since you're championing the cause of not abusing NSF for non critical duties, one of the thing that must stop is the NDP. It's nothing but a big wayang to stroke the ego of the 超级白.

All the time wasted for endless rehersals can be put to better use in training.

The raw nerves of Singapore Citizens have been wrenched in their daily lives when they see job opportunities for Singapore Citizens were taken over by cheaper Foreigner Labour.NS has become a liability for Singapore Citizens .It will get worse when a Singapore Citizen job applicant go for a job interview conducted by a Foreigner HR Manager who has not done NS.The Foreigner HR Manager may ask "How many more ICTs are u still liable ?" or "How many days per ICT per year are u still liable ?" or "In view of your NS liability,how can u add value to the company ?"

I thought so I was doing NS to protect the nation. But that was the past and today wearing Army uniform and NSF duty is not worthy anymore.

Are the local boys supposed to be beholden to defend the nation when the government allowed employers to hire cheap foreign workers first and not the locals? Defending the nation is priceless and I believe even foreigners would like to do NSF in their own country if they have to. Deep in their heart they know defending their own country is their responsibility and pride. Some Malaysians I know want to be army boys to defend Malaysia but alas Malaysia do not have conscript NS.

Even the government do not hire local first but give away top jobs to foreigners (Amy Cheong case) and it does not make NSF worthy of the cause anymore.

NSF must be abolish and if it does not then it is abuse the local boys to make them toy solider not for defense but for PAP to brag its defense capability.

You have not done NS so you are in no position to pass judgement. NS is about duty, honor and country.

I did 2.5 years plus a full 13 year cycle. I have never been abused. Every single time I put on my uniform, I was proud to serve my country and the issue of money has never even crossed my mind. Every day, every hour and every minute of my time was an investment in the security of my beloved nation.

You should go to some other forum where the subject matter is more suited to your intellect.
