Duty, Honor, Country? please...I serve my duty doing my compulsory "slavery", then full reservist plus extras for their explanation was that, they have shortage of births. ICT was a bane to my employer, each time the SAF 100 was shown; for it will be NORMALLY for more than 30 days. On top of it, there were minor weapons training that takes up 1 or 2 days, or special ranges weekends plus Silent Recall plus routine reporting plus IPPT.
So, it was an HONOR to server my country, at the expense of work, family & personal life, it is my duty to protect the people, foreign & local & country...sic! my boss will tell you, he rather employ a PR & FT...than us..for Reservist is disruptive to work flow..
So each time I go back for reservist, I think of what my boss say...& reflect on Gen MacArthur speech at Wespoint, "Honor, Duty, Country", & look around the FT filling positions that soon be gone for me... I feel proud to serve!
