Updates on announcements made by the MTF as we enter a new phase of normalcy.

10 Oct 2022
We will lift Covid-19 rules tied to vaccination status. This means that those who are not fully vaccinated can participate in larger events, enter nightclubs involving dancing, and dine-in at hawker centres.

Everyone should achieve minimum protection against the virus. Those aged 50 and above should receive an additional booster dose between five months to a year from their last dose.
And if you are aged 50 or older, or have yet to achieve minimum vaccine protection, you may walk into any Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre offering the Moderna/Spikevax vaccines from 17 October 2022 onwards, to receive your bivalent vaccine dose.
If you are not yet fully vaccinated, do get your jabs! Vaccination and exercising social responsibility will help to protect you and your loved ones as we live with Covid-19. I will stay up to date with my shots too, especially as I turn 50 later this year.

We’re bringing the #ForwardSG conversations closer to home!
Today is one of the first in a series of #ForwardSG neighbourhood engagements we will be organising in every part of Singapore. And I am glad to start my weekend with our passionate residents from Yew Tee and Limbang.
The #ForwardSG exercise is focused on refreshing and strengthening our social compact. It is about building trust, unity, and a common purpose.
The Government plays a big part but there are many things the government cannot do alone. And to forge a stronger society, everyone has a part to play.
So, I am heartened to see today that so many of you shared your commitments and ideas, neighbour to neighbour, to bring forward the future Singapore you want to see.
Be a part of the change. Stay updated on upcoming engagements through the #ForwardSG website (https://www.sg/forwardsg) and social media platforms.
Let’s work together and thrive as a stronger society!

How should we update our social compact in an era of disruption and volatility? I envisage a society with stronger safety nets and collective support - one that will assure every Singaporean that they are not left to fend for themselves but that we will move forward together. In particular, we will have to do more to uplift the lower-income and sustain social mobility; provide better care for our growing number of seniors; and strengthen support for our families.
But government policies alone will not suffice to achieve these goals. The drive and energy to build a fairer and more inclusive must come from all of us - employers, community partners, families and all.
Glad to share my thoughts and also hear from many social service practitioners on Monday, together with my colleagues Minister Indranee Rajah, MOS Sun Xueling, and SPS Rahayu Mahzam.

With over 100 years of history in Singapore, The Eurasian Association, Singapore has been steadfastly serving the community, preserving and promoting our rich Eurasian heritage and culture.
I was happy to engage representatives from the EA over lunch, on their programmes and work to drive positive change both at the community and national level.
I wish EA all the best — continue your good work to strengthen the fabric of our nation. Many thanks also to Chef Quentin for the delicious lunch, especially the Devil Curry and sugee cake!

Attending the Singapore Institute of Technology's graduation ceremony today is like a homecoming for me. My journey with SIT began way back in 2012, when I led the committee to review how we could expand our university sector in Singapore.
All of us have witnessed the importance of our public healthcare sector during the pandemic. And in the long term, we will continue to deal with an ageing population and more. To our new graduates in allied health — you will be on the front lines in supporting the vulnerable amongst us, looking out for our elderly and building a #HealthierSG. It is a noble and important role.
My heartfelt congratulations to the SIT Class of 2022. May you continue to find that your work is filled with meaning and purpose!

Congratulations to Ashley Gwyneth Tan. She learned about occupational therapy during her diploma internship in a special needs school. She then continued this passion and set her mind on pursuing joy in helping others especially working with children with disabilities. Well done, Ashley!
