Lawrence Wong

Since I launched the #ForwardSG exercise last year, we have engaged more than 14,000 fellow Singaporeans in about 140 engagement sessions around Singapore. Thanks, everyone for your views and contributions, which have helped to shape our work to strengthen our social compact.
Everyone plays an important part in this. As a next step, we are now working to deepen partnerships within communities — to take action and realise our shared aspirations. So join me and my team in the upcoming series of #ForwardSG engagements happening in the heartlands. To sign up and find out more, visit: www.forwardsingapore.gov.sg

Lawrence congratulates all who received the National Awards (COVID-19) from President Halimah.

Lawrence Wong

7 h ·
For the last three years, we tackled the Covid pandemic together as one. Yesterday, we came together once again — to honour our pandemic heroes and heroines.
Congratulations to all who received the National Awards (COVID-19) from President Halimah. A special shout-out to my Ministry of Finance (Singapore) colleagues who chipped in with various measures to help businesses and households.
During the event, someone asked me: during the last 3 years, was I ever worried that Singapore would not make it through the pandemic? I told her I had many such worries and sleepless nights. But in the end, we pulled through because of the grit, resilience and courage of everyone who contributed to our Covid fight. So a big heartfelt thanks to all our award recipients — you exemplify the best of the Singapore spirit. If not for all of you, we will not be where we are today — stronger and more united as a nation!

Lawrence thanks Tharman.

Lawrence Wong

9 June at 20:12 · Instagram ·
A big thank you to SM Tharman for his many significant contributions in government. I first got to know him shortly after he entered politics in 2001 - he was part of the Economic Review Committee, overseeing the subcommittee on taxes and I provided secretarial support for this work. After I entered politics in 2011, I had more opportunities to interact with him. I’ve benefited tremendously from his advice and guidance, especially when I took on new ministry portfolios in Education and Finance. I also had the chance to work with him on the boards of GIC and MAS. I always enjoy our discussions on policy matters, and value greatly his insights and counsel. I wish him all the very best, as he embarks on a new journey to serve our country and fellow citizens!

Lawrence thanks all RRG members for their many significant contributions.

Lawrence Wong

19 m ·
Terrorism may not be top of mind for many Singaporeans. But the threat of radicalism and extremism remains high. Terrorist groups have become more sophisticated at using digital platforms to spread their propaganda. They are increasingly targeting youths. More young people are being radicalised, including in Singapore. It’s a very worrying trend.
Our enforcement agencies will do their best to keep Singapore safe. But we also need active citizens who can contribute in their own ways, for example by challenging and countering extremist ideologies.
For the last 20 years, the Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG), comprising leaders of our Muslim community, has helped to do so. Their counselling work has rehabilitated many radicalised Singaporeans, and given them a chance to reintegrate and return to society.
The RRG is continuing to refresh and update its strategies, including by engaging youths directly on social media. They are already active on Facebook and Instagram, and I was happy to launch their new TikTok channel today!
The RRG has played an indispensable role in countering the threat of terrorism and extremism in Singapore. I thank all RRG members for their many significant contributions. The success of the RRG is a testament to what we can achieve together as a multi-racial, multi-religious and united Singapore.

Lawrence is glad that P&G has chosen to make Singapore its HQ for Asia.

Lawrence Wong

3 d ·
P&G is well known for its many trusted household brands. The P&G story originated in faraway Ohio. But there are some common threads with the Singapore story.
Both P&G and Singapore started out around 200 years ago from humble beginnings. We have both thrived and prospered, through the ingenuity and innovation of our people. We are always looking to do better, and to enhance our value proposition.
That’s why we are glad that P&G has chosen to make Singapore its HQ for Asia. Over the last 35 years, P&G has been a key partner across many areas - innnovation, R&D, SME development, community involvement etc. P&G has also just announced plans to expand its presence here with a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which will create more jobs for Singaporeans.
We value the partnership with P&G and look forward to growing and doing good together for many more years to come. Happy 35th anniversary P&G Singapore!

Today I launched Go Green SG together with Grace Fu, Gan Siow Huang 颜晓芳, and Baey Yam Keng 马炎庆 at Mee Toh School!
Go Green SG is a national movement to rally everyone in Singapore to work towards a greener and more sustainable future.
Mee Toh School is a good example with their integrated eco-friendly activities. They are a part of the broader Eco Stewardship Programme across all schools, to nurture new habits and mindsets, especially amongst our students.

Lawrence was delighted to meet UK Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden.

Delighted to meet UK Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden today, who is on his first visit to Singapore.
Singapore and the UK share a rich history and close longstanding ties. DPM Dowden and I had a good discussion on how our two countries can strengthen our economic resilience and security amidst global uncertainties. We also agreed that, as like-minded partners, Singapore and the UK can work together to push the frontiers of innovation through new technologies, as well as to manage the risks and disruptions from these technological changes.
I look forward to working together with DPM Dowden, to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation!

Lawrence Wong

#HealthierSG just launched yesterday!
All Singaporeans and PRs aged 60 years and above will be progressively invited to enrol.
#HealthierSG is a major shift in our healthcare system towards preventive care.
It’s also part of our refreshed social compact, something we have been discussing as part of the #ForwardSG exercise. In other words, the government will do more to support citizens, but individuals will also do their part to take charge of their own health, and adopt healthier lifestyles.
Together we can empower everyone to lead healthier lives and age with confidence!
