Singapore and Indonesia share a deep and enduring friendship. Happy to meet and chat with many Indonesian journalists on our bilateral ties, which I’m confident will continue to grow from strength to strength!

Lawrence was saddened to hear of the passing of Prof Lim Chong Yah. :frown:

Saddened to hear of the passing of Prof Lim Chong Yah. As a student, I remember reading his seminal Economic text books.
Later I learnt more about his significant contributions in economic development. In particular he took up the challenge of setting up NWC with no precedent to draw from. His contributions as the pioneering Chairman for almost 30 years allowed NWC to be a force for change and laid the foundation for harmonious tripartite relations.
I had the opportunity to chat with him at the NWC’s 50th anniversary dinner last year. He shared passionately about his experiences in the NWC - the importance of this unique and valuable institution, and how we were able to get employers, unions and the Government to all agree on wage guidelines. The best way to honour his memory is continue this important work, and do everything we can to further strengthen our tripartite partnership in Singapore.
My deepest condolences go out to Prof Lim's family and loved ones. He will be missed by all.

Johor is a key gateway between Singapore and Malaysia. Tunku Mahkota Johor, HRH Crown Prince of Johor’s official visit to Singapore reflects the close cooperation we have with Malaysia and Johor.
It was a timely catch up since we last met a year ago.
Later this week, Singapore will host the 16th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia (JMCIM) to discuss a wide range of cooperation initiatives between Singapore and Johor — looking forward to greater opportunities for cooperation!

I know many are concerned and have questions about the CPIB investigation case.
As investigations are ongoing, we have to let them take their course and we urge everyone to refrain from speculation.
But I want to emphasise that this is concrete proof of how we do things in Singapore and how our system works.
We have always upheld a clean and incorrupt system of government. Our track record over the decades is clear to all.
This is the foundation of the people's trust in the PAP government, and PM Lee and I are fully committed to preserving this trust.
We maintain a tough, zero tolerance stance against corruption. We will continue to uphold stringent standards of honesty and probity that Singaporeans expect of their political leaders.
We will be upfront and transparent; we will not sweep anything under the carpet, even if they are potentially embarrassing or damaging to the PAP. This is how the PAP government has worked, and will continue to work — with transparency and integrity.
I seek everyone’s patience and understanding, to let CPIB do its work, and provide its findings in due course.

Lawrence Wong

I have been following the news on the resignations of Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and MP Cheng Li Hui while overseas for G20 meetings. I am saddened that they are leaving under these circumstances.
But the PAP has and will always maintain stringent standards of propriety and conduct, while staying clean and incorrupt. These are foundational to the people's trust in us. As PM Lee has stressed, our duty is to Parliament and the people of Singapore, and that is paramount.

Just got back from India and saw the news about our passport being ranked “most powerful” in the world.
Singaporeans love to travel. Each time we do so, the passport we carry is a small reminder — that amidst our current challenges, we can continue to stand tall and proud as citizens of this little red dot, with the confidence that we have a lot going for us today, and will keep on building a better tomorrow!

The G20 Finance Ministers’ and Central Governors’ Meeting wrapped today. These few days have given us the opportunity to come together to take a hard look at challenges and how to overcome them - including how to scale up development finance, deal with cryptoassets, and strengthen collaboration for the benefit of our peoples.
On the sidelines, I was glad to catch up with many of my international counterparts. Such face-to-face meetings allow us to discuss matters of shared interest and to strengthen our relationships.
Thank you for your hospitality, India

A big part of what makes Singapore special is our racial harmony.
What we have today was forged through the crucible of painful experiences in our early years as a nation. So when we mark Racial Harmony Day every year, let's remember how important this harmony is, and how hard-won it has been.
Glad to see the little kids learning about each other's cultures and traditions!

At the Monetary Authority of Singapore, our work is not just to develop Singapore as a financial centre, but also to nurture more Singaporeans to take on leadership positions in finance.
Glad to have a lively discussion with many of these leaders — on the macroeconomic outlook, future of Singapore but also on personal leadership journeys.

Good corporate governance and leadership are key for companies — especially in today's uncertain and challenging world.
This is also why nurturing a diverse pool of directors with the right mix of skills, experiences and perspectives is important.
Kudos to the Singapore Institute of Directors for launching a new Accreditation Framework of Directors to establish standards for director competencies, and Governance for Good Alliance to champion good governance.
With our collective efforts, we can raise corporate governance standards and keep Singapore a trusted and vibrant hub for business.
