Sg Men in 50s

If the sinkie men are streetwise & have the determination to live differently …

(1) HDB 4-rooms or 5-rooms flats .. no private property please

(2) Self sufficiency lifestyle - Foods from FairPrice supermarkets & good honest hawker stalls as restaurants provide no good value meals

(3) Bring wife & kids to Museum that are free entrance instead of needing to spend silly money to fly to other countries for holidays

If you able communicate with wife & do the above 3 things .. you are likely to live a longer happily life

For 1. I think 4-rooms should be good enough. Both 4 rooms and 5 rooms also has the same number of bedrooms, only extra bigger living room I find not worth the extra cost. Also 4 rooms hdb is easier to sell if want to move house.

For 3. I find very funny comment

(3) What I mean is tell wife dun spend money to fly to other cities to see the same things .. instead we can go Museums that are free which more educational for our kids, there are many museums that are free entrance in the Sinkieland

My philosophy is there is no need to spend to so much money to fly & see the whole world

The world is just a rotten place :poop: & all they want is your money

If you lent them money, only lend what u can afford to lose (not get back).

When they have the money, some will go for tours, buy car, buy shares, instead of repaying the loan.
Money is the surest way to lose a friend, or reveal which ones are assholes. My buddies and I have never lent or borrowed money from one another. Although we fight to pay for meals and drinks all the time.

What I see in the men in 50s …

(1) Many of them are broke & homeless cos they are divorced

(2) Living an unsustainable lifestyle by staying in private condo with wife & kids eating the most expensive foods for almost every meal :frown:

(3) Jobless cos nobody wanted to hire them

I'm an exception.

1. I ain't broke and I'm still single.

2. I own two houses (a HDB flat which I'm staying in and a landed property which I rent out). I eat mostly at hawker centres and Kopitiams.

3. I don't need a job as I create jobs for people cos I'm the boss of the company.

All ok except change Fairprice with sheng shiong or prime. Go FP might as well go Cold storage.

But at least you won't have to worry about financing a family (Kids, wife, mortgage, living expenses), putting up with your bitchy wife and the irritating in-laws, and probably getting stuck in a sexless marriage. That is one hell of a depressing load lifted off your shoulders.

pretty much sexless marriage after having kids. KPI is to bring kids and wife for tour at least once a year.

Then quarrel with wife when she wants them to follow her faith, instead of yours.

and after all these, quarrel with children when they grow up, or see children quarrel between themselves.

pretty much quarrel with everyone by then.

your life revolved around quarreling?

SG men in their 50s today quite stressed.

Last generation, 50 year old SG men close to retirement, kids in their 20s, house all paid up.

Today I see many SG men in their 50s, still hard at work, can't afford to lose their job, looking after kids in primary school, also looking after parents who are still alive thanks to SG tip top healthcare, also looking after parents in-laws who are still alive, many still have housing loan, car on instalment etc
with health problems to come
Many huat big big cheong into SG World best Propèrty market in their 40s....enjoying US Fed Reserve High InTerest rate for last few years. Covid also resulted bug changes in their career n business outlook.

World Lumber 1 Sandwich Class

No career progression to speak off

A close friend can't stand his superiors in stat board, went to drive grab. Another lost his 5-digit job after his Japanese company closed the whole department in Singapore due to our strong SGD.

As for myself, my pay is now back to 15 years ago. Can you believe it? every month is like negative cashflow.

Expenses are higher now - still got to fund the kids and parents.
Same here, no choice need to loon n loon everyday...no good rosy outlook. Company has been sending new guys for traininga

The best is stay away from marriage. Not saying it gets rid of all your problems. You still have to deal with old-age related health issues later on.

Need to marry early loh, if u start your family late, the calculus did not end well wan
