Online users express anger towards Chan Chun Sing over his remarks of calling people “idiots” and “disgraceful”

Keechiu's heart was warmed. 
It was heartwarming to see the Singapore University of Social Sciences fraternity and partners coming together to honour its President, Professor Cheong Hee Kiat.
Hee Kiat will be stepping down after 17 years of distinguished service with the university.
He has been instrumental in driving the adult learning space. In 2005, he established the former SIM University (UniSIM), the first and only university in Singapore dedicated to adult learners then, and saw through the restructuring of UniSIM to SUSS in 2017, to target fresh school leavers and adult learners, with a focus on social sciences and lifelong and continuous learning.
Hee Kiat is a very practical person with highly innovative yet grounded solutions and I’ve learnt much from him. I’d like to express my deepest appreciation to Hee Kiat for his many years of service to the education sector. Through his leadership, the university has grown its scale, relevance and standing.
He will be succeeded by Professor Tan Tai Yong, who was the President and Professor of Humanities (History) at Yale-NUS College. I welcome Tai Yong to SUSS and believe that he will continue to build on the strong foundation and bring SUSS to greater heights.

We must be consistent by not taking sides based on opportunism, but positions based on principles.
Being connected to the world is especially crucial for small city-states like Singapore, as connectivity allows us to transcend the limitations of our geographical size and create value.
Businesses have the responsibility and influence to effect change. They have the power to create a better world for the next generation by setting the standard in growth areas such as digitalisation and sustainability.
Forums like these bring diverse perspectives together, which leads to new solutions. Singapore can be a place for the world to converge. Governments, industries and institutions from our shores or beyond, let us continue working closely together for our people

Keechiu visited Teck Whye Primary School. 
Creating a culture of care is something that many of our schools do. In Teck Whye Primary School, they coined the philosophy "Every Child, My Child". It is an easy-to-remember anchor that reminds everyone in the school community on how they are to care for their students, be it teaching staff or non-teaching staff like security guards, parent volunteers or bus drivers.
This culture has trickled down to the students as well. It was Science and Tech Week when I was there. The Primary 6s helmed the booths, and it was heartening to see how they patiently explained the activities to group after group of juniors (and me!) and encouraged us to try the games and experiments they prepared.
Also dropped by a Primary 5 class and handed out some lunchboxes. The reusable lunchboxes will come in handy for the school's upcoming picnic event, where students will gather on picnic mats with packed food instead of eating in the canteen. It's a fun change of environment that will encourage peer bonding, with a little lesson on sustainability incorporated too.
Wrapped up the activities with the student AVA team guiding me to share what I loved about my own primary school experience. Thanks for the fun visit, TWPS!

These are 3 areas that resonated strongly with participants in #ForwardSG Equip pillar engagements.
This afternoon, Tan Kiat How, Gan Siow Huang 颜晓芳 and I heard from over 200 youths, parents, educators, community and industry partners on how we can collectively work towards our common goals for education.
Happy to share that Singapore Business Federation, Singapore Human Resource Institute and Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) will be collaborating with Ministry of Education, Singapore to facilitate partnerships between industry and schools, especially at primary and secondary levels.
This will enrich school experiences for both students and educators, and provide exposure to various industries.
Over the past 3 months, MOE has engaged more than 7,500 Singaporeans to discuss the desired collective outcomes for education and lifelong learning.
The next phase will see us bringing their ideas to fruition as a community.

Our parent-child teams
came together to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. More importantly, it was a family bonding opportunity. Glad to see everyone, especially our aspiring junior chefs, having fun!
