We cannot do it alone.
We have to work together with our partners to tackle the many complex and multifaceted challenges the world faces.
The universities in ASEAN can play a key role as the “brain trust” of our societies, by bringing people of different backgrounds and perspectives together to discuss these challenges, and formulate new ideas for us to move forward as one.
Regional forums such as the Temasek Foundation-NUS Programme For Leadership Management (TF-NUS PLUM) are important platforms to build this mutual trust between our peoples.
To our ASEAN university leaders at the TF-NUS PLUM, I hope you will leverage your shared experiences and insights to break new ground. May this sense of community continue to grow so that we may emerge stronger, together.

Keechiu congratulates NTUC First Campus.

Chan Chun Sing

Congratulations NTUC First Campus, on your 45th anniversary!
Happy to join them at the opening of the new My First Skool campus at 6 New Punggol Road - and thank you to the children for including me in your playtime!
I extend my appreciation to pre-school operators such as Life @ First Campus – Inspiring Young Lives who are part of our whole-of-society efforts to nurture our children holistically. Ministry of Education, Singapore will continue to partner parents and operators so that our children can have access to quality preschool education, and be anchored with a solid and holistic foundation from the very beginning.
Let us continue working together to prepare our children to thrive in the future!

Keechiu benefitted from the whole-of-community support system in our education landscape.

I have benefitted from the whole-of-community support system in our education landscape.
I am happy to learn that over $5.7 million have been raised through the Citi Singapore & Partners’ Charity Golf initiative. The funds raised will go towards supporting disadvantaged students under The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.
The spirit of contributing and giving back to society is one that we hope to inculcate in our students. Every contribution counts towards uplifting those who need help.
With everyone – the government, corporates, partners, and individuals – playing their part, I believe we can build a caring and inclusive society where no Singaporean gets left behind.

Congratulations to all graduates and award winners at the Social Service Institute (SSI) Graduation and Awards Ceremony 2022!

True to the theme of this year’s ceremony, ‘Moving Forward with Lifelong Learning’, I’m heartened that SSI also recognised Social Service Agencies for their continuous support in developing and upskilling their staff. A special mention to SSI STAR and Long Service Adult Educators, whose contributions to developing professionals in the social service sector is critical.
To the graduates - in your journey ahead, do take time to recharge when you can, and remember you can always draw on the collective strengths and capabilities of one another. Go forth and fly the flag high for the social service sector!

Strengthening mental well-being, especially in youths, is crucial in today’s complex and demanding environment.
Was glad to witness this afternoon’s MOU signing between Institute of Mental Health Singapore and The Singapore Scout Association on mental wellness.
IMH and SSA will work together to:
▪️
Develop a programme for SSA’s Adult Leaders to conduct mental health literacy programmes for Scouts
▪️
Promote awareness and knowledge of mental wellness for youths in Singapore
May more of such partnerships take shape and empower our community to make a positive difference for one another.

Keechiu celebrated Deepavali.

In Singapore, we celebrate festivals together regardless of race, language or religion. This is what makes us so special.
Last evening, Our Tanjong Pagar came together to celebrate Deepavali. This Festival of Lights was extra special - first time we were doing so in three years. Delighted to see everyone celebrating as one community.

Keechiu visited NUS.

Chan Chun Sing

During my visit to National University of Singapore, I met Amir and Adeline, who are currently studying at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies. I learnt more about Venipuncture, a way to draw blood.
Though they are both first year students, neither is new to healthcare. Amir served as an emergency medical technician during his NS days and his experiences inspired him to find out more about post-hospital care. Adeline currently works for Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a part-time healthcare assistant.
Also participated in a hybrid lesson. Blended education is part of NUS’ nursing programme which offers greater flexibility to working adults who are taking up the Career Conversion Programme. They can access self-directed learning packages and take part in synchronous class discussions. Taking such classes in their own time and convenience helps them to upskill and learn more about nursing practices and techniques.
I admire their commitment to upskilling and lifelong learning and am glad that the adoption of educational technology is helping to facilitate this.
