Happy 40th anniversary, NTUC FairPrice Share-a-Textbook!
I am happy to hear that the community project has collected and redistributed more than 6.8 million books to help over 300,000 students over the years. With the support of volunteers, community partners, and schools, Share-a-Textbook allows us to care for the less privileged as a community and promote recycling as a sustainable lifestyle.
May this spirit of giving back to others continue to grow through Share-a-Textbook and inspire more to step forward to contribute to such causes.
Wishing NTUC FairPrice’s Share-a-Textbook many more good years to come!

Keechiu spoke on the mutual trust between Singapore and China.

Amidst today’s uncertain geopolitical environment, trust between countries and their peoples is more important than ever. At the 18th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting, I spoke on the deep mutual trust between Singapore

and
1f1e8_1f1f3.png
China, built up by our predecessors. It will be our responsibility to plant the seeds of trust for the next generation, by maximising the opportunities for our younger generation to grow up together and understand one another’s interests, concerns and aspirations.
We announced the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the respective Ministries of Education of Singapore and China on the Singapore-China Foundation (SCF). Under this MOU, the SCF offers scholarships every year to officials from Singapore and China to pursue Master’s or executive programmes in the other’s country. This MOU renewal signals a positive continuation of Singapore-China education ties.
We look forward to resuming and stepping up our student, staff and internship exchanges, as well as academic and research interactions and collaborations in diverse fields such as science, technology, medical, social and international affairs.
Singapore can be a trusted and neutral platform for Chinese students, staff and researchers to engage with the region and the rest of the world. We hope that more Singaporean students and officials can have opportunities to appreciate the diversity and complexity of China. We will work closely with our Chinese counterparts to accomplish our shared objectives.

Keechiu spoke at the Global Lifelong Learning Summit.

Chan Chun Sing

2 d ·
With the pace of technological change and speed of business cycles picking up, we know that lifelong learning is key to help Singaporeans and companies remain competitive and relevant.
But how can we organise ourselves to build a future-ready lifelong learning ecosystem? These are some of the key steps I shared at the Global Lifelong Learning Summit today:
1️⃣
Working with intermediaries such as trade associations and IHLs to act as integrators that articulate and aggregate skills demand across sectors.
2️⃣
Stepping up our investment in research into adult education pedagogies and appointing Institute for Adult Learning Singapore as a National Centre of Excellence for Adult Learning.
3️⃣
Strengthening support for mid-career workers, especially those in their 40s and 50s, by reducing opportunity costs of training through SkillsFuture Credit and training allowances.
In our world today, lifelong learning has become a necessity for us to develop confident individuals, a cohesive society, and a competitive country. There is still much more that we can do to achieve the outcomes that we want, and every one of us has a role to play to advance this nationwide agenda.

Keechiu spoke at the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST) Academy Awards for Professional Development 2022.

Very pleased to speak at the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST) Academy Awards for Professional Development 2022 today. The annual awards recognise Ministry of Education, Singapore officers and partners for their contributions to MOE staff’s professional development, and support AST’s role to engender a teacher-led culture of professional excellence.
With greater global uncertainties ahead, we must nurture our students to overcome new challenges by honing how we teach, to ensure lifelong learning. This requires us to collaborate and learn from our colleagues, our peers, and experts.
Despite the COVID-19 disruptions, MOE continued to foster mutual professional development through a blended approach and online platforms. I am delighted that the highest number of nominations for the Fellow and Associate of AST awards were received this year, about 670. This shows how our fraternity values learning and the professional development of others.
Let’s continue to Lead, Care, and Inspire one another, constantly improving to make a big difference in our students’ lives.
Congratulations to all recipients for the AST Academy Awards for Professional Development!

United by our hopes to leave behind a greener and more sustainable Singapore for our future generations!

Keechiu wants to build a community of care.

As Singaporeans, how can we build a community of care?
Students at Singapore Management University have been using their musical talents to empower Persons with Aphasia by supporting their rehabilitation and recovery.
The collaboration with Aphasia SG was initiated in 2021 by SMU SoundFoundry, a student club of musicians and vocalists.
“Aphasia is a common condition, but most members of the public are unaware of its existence,” said Joseph, the founder of the project and a year 3 student studying at the School of Law.
Recognising an opportunity to use SMU SoundFoundry's skillsets, he reached out to AphasiaSG, facilitating music therapy and supporting their craft-making, games and chit-chat sessions.
“Some Persons with Aphasia find it more difficult to communicate or be independent, so the community aspect is very important to get them to spend time with others and encourage them. I really love what we do. Many of the people we help have become friends,” Joseph shared.
Well done SMU!
May we all learn from your willingness to address society’s needs, and strive to build a more inclusive community.
