Why should corporations invest in training their employees?
How can businesses partner our schools to inspire and mould the next generation of our workforce?
Had a great discussion with members of Enterprise 50 Association - E50A on these important questions that every business, big or small, should consider.
Empowering our people to embrace learning beyond their schooling years benefits not just employers and employees alike, but also our society at large .
I invite enterprises to join us in engendering a spirit of continuous education and training in your organisations and beyond, as we continue to engage our industry partners as part of our commitment towards #ForwardSG.

Join me and Josephine Teo on 新闻深呼吸 8world Stories and 8视界新闻新加坡 8world News’ “A Conversation with Minister” on Channel 8 at 9pm tonight to find out how we can prepare ourselves to seize new opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
Enjoyed the conversation with NTUC LearningHub CEO Jeremy Ong, Eurasia Co-founder and CEO Kelvin Ong, actress Joanne Peh and Shopback Senior CRM Executive Magdelene Mok. They may come from different backgrounds and have different approaches to lifelong learning, but share the common drive to pick up new skills and knowledge in their respective domains.
Ultimately, lifelong learning is a whole-of-nation effort that requires us to support one another in this journey. This includes cultivating a desire to learn in every individual, forging closer partnerships between industry and Institutes of Higher Learning to strengthen the skills training ecosystem, and garnering support from employers to recognise the skills that employees acquire.

We must leverage technology to transform the way we teach, learn and connect with the world.
The quality of our education system depends on quality teachers, supported and enabled by technology to bring out the best in our students.
Shared my thoughts on how #technology can help us to step up teaching and learning at the National Technology-Enhanced Learning Conference (NTEL) 2022 hosted by SUTD SG:
1️⃣
Enabling our educators to leverage new technologies to develop new teaching competencies that addresses the needs of learners.
2️⃣
Nurture new learning competencies among our students to become self-directed learners throughout life.
3️⃣
Elevate our competencies in connecting with people, cultures and systems from all over the world.
Also enjoyed learning about SUTD’s CampusX initiative and start-ups during my visit

He is not fit for MOE. Glad he started playing at the nursery school (kindergarten), the perfect place to hang out with his playgroup.

Can anyone teach him - How do we get cotton come from?
CCS tells the whole world: Cotton comes from sheep. (He thought it was a joke)

If you ask him-- Where did silk come from??
He will say Silk comes from silk road

Then you ask him how do we get wool from??

New Zealand are close partners with cooperation across various sectors, including strong links in education and trade.
Happy to sign the refreshed Singapore-New Zealand Education Cooperation Arrangement with my counterpart The Honourable Chris Hipkins MP.
With the signing, we look forward to provide more opportunities for students and educators from both countries to engage with and learn from each other.

It was great to join DPM Lawrence Wong and our colleagues at the Annual Public Service Leadership Ceremony (APSLC) 2022.
The APSLC recognises the appointments of new public service leaders and acknowledges the contributions of those retiring. As our operating environment becomes more complex, it is important that our public service officers work well together to serve Singapore and Singaporeans.
Congratulations to all new appointees, and a big thank you to our retiring officers for their contributions!
