It is Teachers’ Day tomorrow and our educators and students are celebrating this special occasion in schools today before going on their well-deserved break.
This year’s Teachers’ Day video reminded me once again of the transformative impact that teachers have on each of us from a young age. For students, their teacher is a role model, a mentor whom they trust. As our society and economy evolve, our children remains at the centre of education. We will continue to develop each individual holistically, preparing our students to contribute as active citizens.
I thank our educators and all Ministry of Education, Singapore staff for your dedication and resilience, and for your hard work in ensuring that students continued learning amidst the challenges that came our way. This spirit of dedication has shone through during the COVID-19 period and beyond.
I hope this video resonates with you as much as it did for me. Wishing all our educators and non-teaching staff a Happy Teachers’ Day.

Every year since 1998, we give national recognition to outstanding educators for nurturing our students, through the President’s Award for Teachers (PAT).
Our teachers constantly go above and beyond just teaching subjects, inspiring our students to grow not just academically, but mentally, emotionally, and socially.
This year’s 8 PAT Award winners who received the accolades from President Halimah Yacob, have done more than just passing on knowledge to the next generation of students. With their character traits and outstanding attributes, they are role models for our teaching fraternity at large, and our Ministry of Education, Singapore family is stronger for it.
My heartiest congratulations to all the PAT award winners, as well as the over 4000 nominees. You are inspiration to us all.

Me: What are these cards on the wall?
Student A: These are thank you cards we pen for our teachers.
Me: Ah… this wall is set up for Teachers’ Day?
Student B: No, this wall is here all year round.
Me: So how often do you post a message for your teachers?
Students: Very often!!

Glad that our students learn to give thanks and express their gratitude regularly and not just on Teachers’ Day.
Indeed, everyday can be Teachers’ Day when we honour our teachers who care for us, teach us and imbue in us the values for life.
Happy Teachers’ Day. Thank you to all our educators, past and present.

In Singapore’s early years, when the Government did not have a lot of resources, the clan associations and business community readily stepped forward to support the education of our students. Their efforts were pivotal in our nation building.
Today, the clan associations continue to embody our national ethos of enabling every generation to do better through education.
Was happy to celebrate Teachers’ Day with the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan at their Teachers’ Day Appreciation Dinner and 11th Listening Educator for Advancement and Progress (LEAP) Award Presentation Ceremony. The Awards recognise exceptional teachers who have made a positive impact in nurturing their students. The name of the award signifies the leap of faith that teachers take when they believe that their students have the potential to excel.
Thank you Hokkien Huay Kuan for honouring our teachers, and all that you have done for education.

Singapore’s lack of natural resources did not deter our forefathers from looking far ahead and dreaming big. Through their daring and indomitable spirit in overcoming our challenges and turning them into opportunities, they gave us and future generations the strong foundation that we have today.
At the Public Service Science, Technology and Engineering Conference today, we recognise the contributions, innovation and pursuit of excellence of our public officers. They have continued to deliver quality services against emerging, complex and inter-linked challenges.
I shared with them three key approaches to consider in meeting our evolving challenges ahead.
1️⃣
Stretch the Public Dollar - to ensure sustainable growth and to remain competitive, we must always strive to do more with less.
2️⃣
Leverage our capabilities to overcome national challenges - embrace and leverage the potential of technology and harness expertise across the government.
3️⃣
Seizing opportunities - remain agile and creative when addressing our challenges to better secure Singapore’s future.
Thank you to our public officers! Each of you seeds and provides the capacity and capability for us to build an even better home for Singaporeans to live, work and play.

We had an early Mid-Autumn Festival celebration this evening.
The festival is a time of reunion and harmony. And My Buona Vista community came together in celebration as we bonded over various activities and, of course, delicious mooncakes
