Our students get to try out many different sports as part of their PE lessons in schools. Other than the physical benefits, I believe that the values learnt and friendships forged through playing sports will serve them well for life.
While many students enjoy sports recreationally, some have furthered their passion by joining sports CCAs and representing their schools in their teams. For more than 60 years, the Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Awards have recognised the sporting achievements and display of good sporting character and values of these students.
Congratulations to the winners of the SSSC Colours Awards 2021! Despite the challenges of #COVID19, you have excelled in the sports arena and displayed outstanding sportsmanship. We are very proud of you. CCS

today did not deter our People's Association colleagues from delivering care packs to our residents undergoing home quarantine order or those on the home recovery programme. They will be progressively fanning out across My Buona Vista to provide swift support and reassurance to our affected residents.
Thank you to all our dedicated colleagues and grassroots volunteers. We will stand together as a community, especially during this challenging time. If any of our residents need assistance, please reach out to us at

Keechiu visited SMU.

This is the office of the late Dr Wee Kim Wee, who served as the 4th President of Singapore from 1985-1993.
Affectionately known as “The People’s President”, Dr Wee was much-loved by Singaporeans, and part of his legacy lives on in the replication of his home at Singapore Management University, made possible by the loan of his possessions by his family.
One can catch glimpses of Singapore’s history and heritage in many parts of SMU. This includes the iconic red brick pillars that mark the original entrance to the former National Library building located at Stamford Road – part of the collective memory of generations of Singaporeans.
Was also glad to see the art works of Chua Ek Kay and other local artists displayed at the Li Ka Shing library and throughout the campus. The paintings of Singapore streets and other evocative images, allow our students to experience the everyday life in the early years of Singapore.
Was struck by the strong sense of place during my visit to SMU – indeed, our autonomous universities were built upon the hard work and contributions of many generations. In a world defined by rapid changes and globalisation, it is perhaps more critical than ever that our students retain a deep understanding of who we are, and where we come from. And most importantly, as they forge ahead and do well for themselves, to also remember to be of service to our community and Singapore. CCS

Would you like to hire a Hero?

Evan and Matthew from Singapore Management University have started an app “Quest” that offers a fresh take on the gig economy – “Citizens” who require services are able to hire “Heroes” who then take up these errands. Launched in June, the app currently has about 25,000 users, and is growing in popularity among the younger demographic.
This is one of the start-ups at The Greenhouse at SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, a dedicated space that is designed to support the University’s SMU-X pedagogy as well as cultivate innovation. Qualifying projects are offered an Accelerator Grant of $10,000, along with mentorship, engagement opportunities with investors, and other programmes that support them in their journey of entrepreneurship.
By offering a supportive space to explore new and creative business ideas, we hope to nurture more budding entrepreneurs for the future. CCS
