Keechiu launches SCES's video series.

Chinese language education in Singapore has gone through several changes since independence, and the Society of Chinese Education Singapore (SCES) 新加坡华文教育学会 has made significant contributions towards the learning of the language over the decades.
Was glad to attend the launch of SCES’ video series on the history and legacy of Chinese schools in Singapore this morning. A comprehensive and well-crafted series produced by the Chinese Studies students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, it takes viewers back to the early years of Singapore, the colonial influence on the education system then, and the founding of Chinese schools by clan associations and philanthropists. The series also highlights interesting ways that Chinese culture has been preserved in member schools such as through Chinese school anthems and the distinct architecture of school buildings.
The passion and dedication of our pioneers have built a strong foundation for the learning of Chinese language, and may the new generation of educators continue to carry the torch forward.
恭祝《承先启后 任重道远》视频成功发布,并期待华文教育学会继续努力,为我们的母语与品德教育做出贡献,培养出新一代立足新加坡,兼具国际视野和判断力的双语人才。

Academics at our Autonomous Universities (AUs) play important roles in addressing the challenges in our economy and society through their research, teaching, and leadership.
Since its establishment in 2015 to strengthen the pipeline of Singaporean academic and leadership talent at AUs, the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent Scheme (START) has supported 137 scholars from the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and Social Science and Humanities disciplines.
With START, we aim to provide more opportunities for Singaporeans who are interested in pursuing academia as a career and to groom talented academics, such as the 25 award recipients this year, to be future academics and leaders.
Enjoyed meeting the START awardees today, and discussing a broad range of topics. Congratulations on your achievements! Wishing you a meaningful and rewarding journey ahead, and we look forward to your research discoveries and contributions in the coming years.

The oldest student enrolled at Singapore University of Social Sciences is more than 70 years old.
The university advocates #lifelonglearning by providing both full-time and part-time degree programmes, and professional development courses. Whether it is those who missed out on a university education earlier in life, or others looking to advance their skills and knowledge, the university extends flexibility and support to adult learners who have additional work and family pressures, compared to young undergraduates.
In line with SUSS’ belief that the lifelong pursuit of knowledge benefits not only the individual, but those around them, many of the projects by the students contributes to our community.
Edsy Bitsy is a low data and offline-first home-based learning platform designed by Yuan Yi and Deevak to enable the continuity of basic education for billions of children affected by the digital divide. The platform works even in areas with poor Internet connectivity through basic smartphones. It is also light on data and memory so users do not have to worry about expensive mobile data consumption.
Zavier and Hui Jun started STRONGSILVERS, a community platform that matches brands to silver influencers. This empowers the elderly to be content creators and gain greater IT literacy, and fosters an online silver social community.
To provide students with platforms to enhance their mental wellness, Shermaine and Wei Jie started a range of programmes to generate broader awareness about the 4 domains of emotional, social, physical and mental well-being, and a support network of Befrienders, Peer Supporters and Staff mentors, to facilitate students in spearheading wellness initiatives.
Heartened by the efforts of the students, and may they continue to use the knowledge acquired at SUSS to better our society, and help those in need. CCS

My heartfelt appreciation goes to our teachers and school staff for working tremendously hard to support our Pri 6 students for the exams, including those who are placed on Quarantine Order and approved absence.
The safety and well-being of our students, teacher invigilators and staff is of paramount importance – Ministry of Education, Singapore will undertake stringent safe management measures for the exams, including staggered reporting times, segregated exam venues and safe distancing.
Let us journey in solidarity with our Pri 6 students and the schools, by adhering to the measures and looking out for one another.
To our Pri 6 students – all the very best for the exams! Remember that this is but one of many milestones in your life, and there are multiple pathways to success. You will always have our utmost support in fulfilling your potential and aspirations.
Take care and stay safe.

AI technology that helps to detect lapses in safety protocols at construction sites and sends live alerts.
Cakes with bioactive compounds that slow down the action of digestive enzymes, and helps in blood sugar management.
These are some of the products and services originating from the NUS Graduate Research Innovation Programme (GRIP), which are now in the market. By solving real-life problems with top research innovations and in commercially viable ways, GRIP is uncovering new possibilities in the way we live, work and play.
Also learnt more about AI Singapore’s latest projects during my visit to National University of Singapore with Dr Maliki Osman. Our national AI programme seeks to anchor deep national capabilities in AI to create positive social and economic impacts, grow our local talent and build a vibrant AI ecosystem.
The strong nexus between industries and GRIP and AI Singapore has enabled our scientists and tech talents to become deep tech entrepreneurs, and propelled the growth of frontier industries.
Looking forward to more exciting innovations ahead! CCS

This is amazing technology. Thanks to Bro Chun Sing for spearheading AI in the F&B industry. I've also been using AI to improve my food catering efficiency and it has already saved my company a bundle during this pandemic.

It would be worrying indeed if Bro Chun Sing did not spearhead AI.
