We are now back to DORSCON Green!
It has been a long three years.
We set up the Multi-Ministry Taskforce to deal with this crisis in Jan 2020. I am glad we did, for the situation soon turned into a gale-force global pandemic.
The past three years had many ups and downs. Fears and uncertainties. Hopes and disappointment.
But we persevered. We stood in solidarity with one another. We remained resilient and emerged stronger together as one people.
Often, we wondered where the light at the end of the tunnel would be.
Today, we can finally see the rainbow at the end of the storm.
I thank all of you for your trust, and for doing your part every step of the way!

It was a fun day of games and learning for our seniors yesterday!
Bedok Youth Network held their annual Rice to The Occasion initiative, in collaboration with Temasek Junior College. Some 80 students from TJC’s Defy Camp organised performances, games, and digital literacy sessions for seniors.
Our seniors were able to pick their own groceries during the distribution yesterday to ensure that they got what they needed.
Very happy to see our young ones give back to the community with so much passion and energy. Joining in made me feel younger!
Keep up the good work.

SINGAPORE - Envision Digital is setting up a research and innovation hub here to promote sustainability as part of plans to expand in Singapore and the region.
The Net Zero Centre of Excellence will focus on the major sectors of green finance, air, land and sea transport, and large-scale real estate portfolios, said the sustainability software firm.
It will start operations from this quarter, and the firm hopes to have in place a team of 100 staff by the fifth year of operations.

As part of the new initiative, OCBC Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Envision Digital to help businesses better monitor and report their carbon emissions and environmental impact. The bank is also exploring using the firm’s solutions to track the carbon footprint of its own operations.
Singapore-headquartered Envision Digital provides software services such as artificial intelligence software to help governments and companies reach their net-zero goals.
It will also establish a Digital Battery Centre of Excellence with an initial focus on safety, life cycle management, battery swopping and smart networks for electric vehicles (EVs), and energy storage batteries.

This will start operations from the second quarter of 2023. The firm expects to have a team of 50 employees in this centre by the third year of operations.

The Singapore EV market is set to grow by around 23 per cent between 2023 and 2027.
The total sum invested in these initiatives was not disclosed.
The firm is working with the National Gallery Singapore to support its goals of becoming a super-low-energy building by 2025 and achieving net-zero carbon emission before 2045. The gallery has taken steps to reduce its energy consumption and carbon footprint by using solar panels and optimising art transportation.
Envision Digital will equip the gallery with technology as well as training and consultancy to track its carbon footprint and optimise overall energy consumption.
These announcements were made at the firm’s fifth anniversary celebration at the gallery, with Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat as guest of honour.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Went for a stroll with my wife. Our walks together are some of my most treasured memories, and I’m so glad to have her by my side all these years.

HSK is particularly cheered by the measures to build a ‘Singapore Made for Families’.

Singapore is returning to normalcy, but this new normal brings challenges and uncertainty. By refreshing our strategies and strengthening our fundamentals, we can move forward and secure a brighter future together.
DPM Lawrence Wong set out how we will do this in his Budget Statement today. There are immediate measures to support our people and businesses in coping with inflation, structural measures to grow our economy and empower our workers, and efforts to strengthen our social safety nets.
I’m particularly cheered by the measures to build a ‘Singapore Made for Families’, which will provide more support for parents and young families. It is a fitting present for our couples this Valentine’s Day, to start and grow their families!

National servicemen and servicewomen would be familiar with the Standard Obstacle Course, or the SOC. It has different stations for soldiers to test their agility and endurance.
To commemorate Total Defence Day, our students at Bedok Green Primary School had a go at a ‘mini’ SOC as a hands-on experience of Military Defence — one of six pillars of Total Defence. These activities enable our students to understand the importance of staying prepared for emergencies, and why we must never take the peace and security that we enjoy in Singapore for granted.
Well done to our young ones for playing your part in Total Defence!

Singapore is a little red dot, and through good friends like our Honorary Consuls-General (HCGs), we shine brighter.
Delighted to meet up with our HCGs yesterday. They are mostly foreign citizens who represent Singapore in cities where we do not have a resident diplomatic presence. Our HCGs not only provide consular assistance, but also help us build connections and open new doors in their respective countries. A big thank you to all for your dedication and contributions, and I wish everyone an enjoyable stay in Singapore!

The Honorary Consuls-General meeting is a good platform for us to exchange views on the key developments in Singapore and around the world.

Congratulations to our students who received their ‘A’ Level results today!
Regardless of your results, remember that you are not defined by your grades. Take your time to explore the many paths and opportunities available, and pick the ones that speak to your interests, strengths, and goals.
All the best for your next phase of learning and growth!

Happy to connect with Bedok residents over games and food at last weekend’s Jom Makan Health Fiesta.
Our Bedok Malay Activity Executive Committee worked with event management students from ITE College East to organise a healthful programme for our residents. We learnt how to care for our mental well-being, and also distributed vouchers and groceries to families. Was impressed by how our students ran the programme with confidence and energy!
A big thank you to Bedok MAEC and our students for organising this!

A cup of kopi-o kosong to start the day!
☕

Our stallholders at East Coast often have interesting stories to share. This particular kopi stall in East Coast, run by a sibling duo, opens as early as 4am and sells out by 10am!
Their regulars are fellow stallholders who start their preparations in the wee hours of the morning, as well as taxi drivers. What's remarkable is that they've been doing this for 40 years. Look forward to uncovering more of such stories in our vibrant East Coast!

Visited Woh Hup Group’s Tech Hub last week. Woh Hup is a family-run construction company, whose heritage is intertwined with Singapore’s development. They have built landmarks like Clifford Pier in the 1930s, to Jewel Changi Airport more recently. Under its current Chairman Kim Yong, who is the third generation, Woh Hup has differentiated itself by taking on challenging projects and nurturing its workforce, while grooming the next generation of leaders.
Woh Hup’s commitment to innovation has not only cemented their position as a leading construction company, but also created iconic developments where we work, live, and play. I wish them every success as they soar to greater heights!

Overhead drilling can be strenuous and challenging for workers. The Jaibot by Hilti performs semi-autonomous drilling for mechanical, electrical and plumbing works accurately, and with 30% time savings compared to manual drilling.
