HSK looks forward to more great workplaces.

What makes a workplace great? Free coffee helps, but when organisations put people at the heart of their work and care for their well-being, they build trust and make work purposeful and fulfilling.
I met many of them at this year’s Great Place to Work Singapore Best Workplaces Awards ceremony yesterday. From large technology firms to micro consultancies, the diversity of winners is proof that great workplaces can exist in any industry, and in organisations big and small.
In this era of volatility and disruption, great workplaces will anchor organisations and their employees in riding the winds of change and emerging stronger. I hope that we will continue to learn from and inspire one another to build the best possible workplaces for our people.

Participated in a panel discussion with Christopher, Geok Hong, and Michael Bush. I spoke about the importance of investing in our people, and how the government, as the largest employer in Singapore, is building better workplaces.

Was also glad to see that there is a new “Micro” award category this year to celebrate the commitment of start-ups and organisations with less than 30 staff.

Congratulations once again to all awardees!

More than 700 artworks from community artists from different countries are on display at the Nagomi Art Love Stories exhibition at Bedok CC till 20 Nov. These art pieces are available for sale, and proceeds will go to beneficiaries in Bedok. It’s wonderful that our community is using art for a good cause. We were also joined by Founder of Nagomi Pastel Art, Mr Hosoya Norikatsu, who flew in from Japan just for this exhibition!
I’ve been to a few Nagomi Art workshops that my residents attended. Residents told me that Nagomi Art is easy to pick up and enables anyone to be an artist! Thank you to everyone for contributing to a more caring and vibrant home in Bedok and East Coast!

Speaking to Dora Lee, who is an avid fan of sunsets. She painted the beautiful sunset at Singapore’s last fishing village in Seletar using Nagomi Art techniques.

Founder of Art Peace, Audrey Ng, very kindly presented a portrait of me (when I was slightly younger!).

Kicked off the 3rd edition of #EastCoastGreenFestival with my fellow East Coast Advisers!
East Coast is one of the greenest towns in Singapore. Yesterday, we took a big step to push forward with our sustainability agenda with the launch of GreenSpace+. GreenSpace+ will be our very own green hub, where residents can meet, learn and bond over sustainability-related activities. There will be a community kitchen, a Makerspace, and a VR classroom. It will progressively open from April next year.
This weekend’s Green Festival is a preview of what GreenSpace+ will look like. Met many passionate volunteers and educational platforms who are helping to raise awareness of environmental issues and sustainable solutions. There are also unique and eco-conscious businesses that you can support, so do check them out!
Together, we will build a more Caring, Vibrant and Green East Coast!

Was very impressed by the whimsical illustrations on display by climate activist Earth to Dorcas! These wonderful illustrations can be great tools to teach our young about climate change.

Coloured in the eye of the panda on this brightly painted Eco Brick. An Eco Brick is a bottle packed solid with clean and dry used plastic and used like traditional bricks.

The bottles can be stacked on top of one another like clay bricks and sealed with concrete or clay. Because plastic isn’t biodegradable, eco bricks are reusable and can be integrated into long-term and short-term building projects!

One of our Heartware volunteers shared more about the upcoming “Bring The Ocean to the Classroom Programme”, which caters to young children.

This will be one of the programmes at our upcoming GreenSpace+. There will be activities and programmes for everyone – children, adults, and seniors, so do keep a look out!
