Learning more about DingDing, a care companion that has a series of features such as tracking health vitals and a 2-way video call. A good example of how technology can be used to improve lives.

The RISE Community has been doing good work in helping men from disadvantaged families to live independently. I met two stroke survivors, Mr Goh and Mr Teo, who shared with me how they have greatly benefitted from the programme. Happy to hear that they are doing well!

Spent a lively Saturday morning with our Heartware Network youths.
Heartware Network has been constantly finding new ways to engage and benefit our youths.
So I was most happy to launch the Sustainable Youth Leadership Development Programme to nurture promising youth leaders into strong, resilient community contributors. It is extra meaningful that we are starting with youths in East Coast!
Also launched the latest iteration of their online portal — Youthbank™ 4.0 — to match youths with volunteering opportunities. You can find out more about connecting and contributing to our community here: www.youthbank.sg.

HSK officially opened HSBC's new office at the Marina Bay Financial Centre.

Officially opened HSBC's new office at the Marina Bay Financial Centre yesterday.
Singapore and HSBC are about the same age. The same age is fleeting for a nation, but venerable for a company. HSBC has continued to renew itself, stay relevant to its customers, and grow throughout its history. It is one of the largest banks in the world, with a global presence.
HSBC has also continued to place great emphasis on human capital development. There are currently over 200 Singaporeans working for HSBC overseas, including in senior regional appointments. Singaporean senior executives who have returned are also holding senior roles, including as HSBC Singapore CEO.
As importantly, HSBC is not just an economic partner, but also an important community contributor. The bank has supported the National Youth Achievement Award Council for over 29 years, and also programmes by Community Chest Singapore.
Its new office marks another milestone in HSBC’s journey in Singapore. I look forward to HSBC playing a bigger role in Singapore in the years to come.

Good to know that HSBC has also been working with NParks to protect and conserve nature. These are the Papilionanda Hongkong and Shanghai Bank orchids which were named after HSBC in appreciation of the bank's support to NParks.

Happy 93rd anniversary to Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan!
Over the years, Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan and other clan associations have played an important role in promoting traditional culture, and strengthening our multicultural landscape. They also support the local business community to seize new opportunities.
I wish the Huay Kuan much success in its future endeavours!

Was amazed by the Teochew Opera performance by Nam Hwa’s Children Opera Class! These little ones were incredibly poised and delivered their lines and gestures with a maturity far beyond their years.

Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan’s activities help pass on understanding and appreciation of the Chinese language, culture and values to the next generation. They also bring together different dialect groups and races to gain a better understanding of our local Teochew culture, and strengthen community bonds between Singaporeans.

Quantum computing can potentially perform a specific task many times faster than the most advanced super computers.
This includes cracking currently unbreakable encryption. If encryption becomes vulnerable, this is akin to leaving the door to your house open.
This would fundamentally undermine the trust in the digital space — from online banking to e-commerce. The race is now on to develop quantum-safe communication technologies.
SpeQtral, one of our quantum technology spin-offs is a promising start-up in this fast growing space. It recently partnered Toshiba to explore new solutions to better protect our data.
I was at SpeQtral yesterday to open their new office and to launch their collaboration with Toshiba.
Singapore has built up our capabilities in quantum technologies over the past two decades. Looking forward to exciting breakthroughs in quantum cryptography!

Learning more about how Quantum Key Distribution – a secure communication method for exchanging encryption keys – is carried out. I tried using a polariser to help balance the light beams, which will set the ideal conditions for QKD to take place.
