Errant cyclists hogs half of Mandai Road -- by riding on each side of a lane

The sight of two cyclists hogging half of the two-lane road Mandai Road angered STOMPer*Zauyah, who feels that errant cyclists should be penalised.

In his report, STOMPer Zauyah wrote:

"These two cyclists were spotted along Mandai Road.

"The road is a two-lane road which is normally used by heavy vehicles yet these two cyclists make it their cycling paradise.

"The sight of two cyclists hogging the road is one that will lead to drivers getting sore eyes.

"Why are cyclists not penalised for doing this?

"If they were hit, the drivers often get the blame, which may even lead to them having their licence revoked, and thus robbing them of their livelihood.

"Errant cyclists like these should be penalised."

Boss Sam say cyclist have every right to do tat.

We do the same thing in NZ. It makes it safer for all as motorists are forced to overtake on the outer lane instead of shaving past and pushing the cyclist into the gutter.

Cycling two abreast is allowed in the road code.

Agree. This way safer. They only take one lane. If cyclist take half lane it will more dangerous. The vechicle will try to squee thru.

Did the damn cyclist PAY ROAD TAX, ERP or COEs???

Damn these cyclists! :oIo:

As a pedestrian I believe bicycles belong on the roads & not on the side walks. :D

PART III
PEDAL CYCLISTS
When Riding
29. Always ride on the left-hand edge on a dual carriageway but do not ride on a footpath. Allow other traffic to overtake you safely. Keep a straight course and avoid sudden swerves.
30. If there is a cycle track, you must use it.
31. Always ride in single file.
32. Do not swerve in and out of vehicles in traffic. When traffic is held up, keep your place and do not attempt to get in front of the other vehicles by weaving in and out of the narrow spaces between them.

AMDK do as they pleased here, be it cycling like they are on their grandfather's road or riding motorbikes without helmets thinking they are still in Phuket.

Agree with Boss Sam, we met one Mobile Squad at Traffic Junction he even told us to cycle
two a breast.. but not three..

So Motorist wake your idea ok ?? Two abreast is acceptable by the LAW!!

Don't KBKP just because someone took picture of cyclists ~ cycling 2 abreast !!

Cycling two abreast is allowed in the road code.

It may be allowed in NZ but it is not allowed in Singapore. Go google "SINGAPORE LAWS ON CYCLING".
