Bangkok Runroaders, are you ready for the worst flood come next week ?

My office/factory is next to this:

Klong 4a.jpg

Already level with road at noon time.

Started defending my house now. Should take 2 days and 300 sandbags.

Drain outside my house left 10cm to go. Normally cannot see water because drain is very deep.

I am feeling a little scare now.

Bro, Nawamin is one of those areas where the authority says it's likely to be affected. Please keep us informed.

I just returned from Khlong Saen Saep boat trip. The water level is normal, so I don't think The Mall Bangkapi is flooded unless the deluge came from canals other than KSS.

I hope you didn't lose too much money. This is part and parcel of the risk of farming. Just look at the amount of rice lost. Sometimes I feel we owe farmers immense gratitude. Their work is the most important yet they're being paid so little.
Thanks KYP,
Not a lot of money invested but the pineapples can be harvested in 3-4 months time. No chance to eat the pineapple now. :(
Also, an old bird farmer warned us not to grow pineapple but me and friend 'iron teeth'. We accept such risks as this is not the first time our crops kena flooding. Last time was 4 months ago, when we did not pumped out the water in the rice fields on time. Ironically, when we want water, water don't come. When we don't want water, many water comes.

Most important is everyone is safe.

10 cm to go? Not a very good sign. Is it still raining in BKK?

There was a short shower in the afternoon, lasted about 10 minutes. It's not raining, but it does feel like it's going to rain soon.

10 cm is indeed dangerous because that type of drain looks like 1.2m deep. The authorities must get the pump ready.

Speaking of drains, I have always noticed that drains in the sois are too shallow.

No. Don't wait for authorities. If cannot get good industrial pump, just get the normal pumps (or those used for fish ponds) from hardware shop or homepro/homework. Just get the higher flow capacity ones. Actually the other thing is the electricity. If no electricity, pumps also no use. Now, understand why my friend's pumps and generator are targeted as a motorcycle in the same place was left intact.

Not sure if one of these will find its way into Bangkok. Joety, make sure you're some Crocodile Dundee.

ABOUT 100 crocodiles have escaped from a farm in central Thailand, sparking new fears as the country struggles to overcome crippling floods that have left more than 250 people dead.

The crocodiles escaped when Crocodile Farm Uthai Thani was inundated with floodwater over the weekend, The Bangkok Post reported today.

Thailand's Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department is now seeking to calm fears, with Thirapat Prayoonsit, the department's deputy chief, saying most of the escaped crocodiles were young and less than three-feet (1m) long.

"Please do not panic," Thirapat said. "The crocodiles are not fierce like those living in the wild. On the contrary, they are rather scared of people."

Still, officials told The Post the department was recruiting specialist crocodile hunters to help catch the reptile escapees.

Government officials in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam say more than 500 people have died across the three countries during unusually heavy monsoon rains over the past two weeks.

More than 250 of the deaths were recorded in Thailand, while more than 200 -- including 83 children -- have died in Cambodia.

Huge efforts are now underway to stop the waters from reaching low-lying Bangkok, home to 12 million people, with prevention measures including sandbags along the Chao Phraya river, AFP reported.

A large amount of runoff water is expected to reach the city in the next few days, while high tides will make it harder for the floods to flow out to sea.

Where are you going to park your Camry and Lexus ??

Lexus is already in Central Ramintra level 3 carpark. Was told by management levels 2.5/3/3.5 already full since Saturday nevertheless when up to try and damn lucky found a good space.

I still need my wheels so kept the Hybrid. But I will defend it from the water to 1.5m. Anything more than that I have to give up.

I have to say that weather in Bangkok is very fine, in fact its a little hot and sunny. Some dark clouds but not too threatening. Problem is water continue to rise and this calm weather is like the calm before the storm. Very eerie in fact. We asked our staff to leave office at 2pm because the water had breached the road on Klong 4. I guess tomorrow is a holiday but I will go have a look in the morning.

Along the way to Prachinburi, saw quite a few house doing this. Instead of building a flat wall, they built a one side sloped wall. The outside is vertical but the inside is 45 degree slope. Then they park the car front side up on the slope and car back side down. Think they have no time or nowhere to park their car so use this method. Main priority is to save the engine. The rest worry later.
