World Cup 2010 Forecastology

This is funny, Thierry Henry in this World Cup is not to play, is for him to set a record of no. of appearances in the World Cup, LOL :D:D:D

Thierry Henry has drawn level with Fabien Barthez in making the most World Cup appearances in French history (17).

On bench not on field doesn't count. Still tie between Henry and Barthez. It's possible that Domenech just did it to spite him, I don't know. It was within Domenech's gift to help Henry break the record, but he didn't.

Ehh, I thought he's on the field, substituing somebody?:confused:

Yes, he substituted Cisse to equal Barthez record. But he had a chance to break it earlier, only if Domenech allowed. I understand that Domenech is your favourite manger, no? :D

Betting today is off to a slow start. For the Group A matches, the half which read the "kelong" correctly are smiling. The half that read it wrongly are cursing. In Group B, Argentina met exepcations and won. The South Korea-Nigeria draw was a big disappointment as many had bought South Korea to win. The fact that South Korea managed to qualify was NO consolation to those who lost $$$.

After yesterday night, betting sentiment has turned cautious. Adding to the slow volume is that the matches start at 10 pm. The following is the run down of today's line up.

Slovenia-England The first big match up of the night. The herd continues to have doubts about England. Of concern is the rumored quarrelling within the team. At this point in time, it is uncertain if this is real or a mind game England is playing with Slovenia. Betting is very thin for an England match.

USA-Algeria USA continues to be a dark horse favoured by the herd. Betting is heavy for the dark horse to triumph over unloved Algeria.

Australia-Serbia Although Serbia slayed mighty Germany in their last match, the herd has yet to embrace Serbia as a firm favourite. There are concerns that brave Australia will pull off another upset. Betting in this market is thin.

Ghana-Germany Confidence in once mighty Germany has pulmeted. Most of the herd had lost money in the Germany-Serbia match. Betting is therefore thin as the herd uses this match to see if the loss was an unlucky fluke or if Germany has come down with the same illness that has been affecting the other European teams.

Australia 5-0 against Serbia. Aussie Aussie Aussie!

You siao har? :eek::eek:

Already bet on Australia to win after last match. Serbia was lucky to defeat Germany last time. Australia was unlucky to have a kuai lan referee. Its do or die now for the aussies. Darling harbour tonight would be packed at 4:30 am for the aussies. AUssie aussie aussie!

Fri nite is the big show down between "gang-bang" Portugal and "invinicble" Brazil. Where would be a good place to watch the match?

Strange sense of fatigue and a lack of excitment although England and Germany are playing tonight. This as compared to the orgy yesterday. The herd seems to be looking for another small team to get raped to get things going again.

Confirmed qualified for 2nd Round so far:
Holland, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, South Korea.

Confirmed knocked out so far:
Cameroon, North Korea, South Africa, France, Greece, Nigeria.

The talks of towns are all about the unusually scrappy and patchy European performance as European countries constitute about half of every World Cup tournament. But as the first World Cup to be held in Africa, and for the first time that Africa have more representatives than South America, Africa are doing even worse than Europe.

The hosts South Africa are already out, as are Cameroon and Nigeria. Algeria and Ivory Coast would need miracles to stay in. Only Ghana is still in it with a good chance. All the talks about host country and host continent advantages seem to go up in smoke.

For South America, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina are already in. Paraguay and Chile are in driving seats. Looks like all South American countries will qualify.

For Asia-Oceania, South Korea are in and North Korea are out. Australia are merely mathetically still in it. Japan and New Zealand still have a fair probability.

For North America, Mexico are in, USA are in a very favourable position to qualify and Honduras are all but out awaiting formality.

Why you never say Europe team?:confused:

Teams already qualified for Round: -
Group A:
A1: Uruguay
A2: Mexico

Group B
B1: Argentina
B2: Korea Rep

My Predictions

Group C
C1: England
C2: USA

Group D
D1: Germany
D2: Serbia

Group E
E1: Netherland
E2: Japan

Group F
F1: Paraguay
F2: Italy

Group G
G1: Brazil (already qualified)
G2: Portugal

Group H
H1: Spain
H2: Chile

Group H is the only group, which could see a team being eliminated at Group stage with 6 points.

Chile though with 6 points, is yet to secure a place in 2nd round. They are facing the favorite, Spain in their last game, and a win for Spain means both teams are on 6 points. Lets say Swiss go on to beat Honduras; Swiss will also have 6 points.

Chile may crash out if Swiss scored a big win (3 goals & above) over Honduras.

Even Honduras still has a very slim chance as well; they need a miracle to have a big win over Swiss and hope for Chile to beat Spain. Big win in this case means 4 goals and above. Sounds impossible!!

A draw with Spain is the best outcome for Chile, but Spain MUST win to ensure a place in second round, as Swiss has a good chance of beating Honduras in its last game. Spain not only needs a win but will have to go all out to hit as many goals as possible, to emerge as Group winner, so as to avoid meeting Brazil in round 2.

If both matches end up in draw, Chile will emerge as Group Leader while Spain squeeze Swiss out by better goal average.

Current Standing:
Chile- 6 points with goal dif +2
Spain – 3 points with goal dif +1
Swiss – 3 points with goal dif of 0
Honduras – 1 point with goal dif - 3
