Why GOV suddenly want to revised COE quota UP?

How to sudden reduce population from 5million to 4million?

When a recession hits, suddenly outflow of foreigners who lose their jobs. That also means outflow of tenants, although that is a different story for landlords of investment property.

my suggestion is that all FOREIGNORS BUYING CAR SHOULD PAY A PREMIUM ON TOP OF THE COE - this is to be fair to singaporeans? its our country and these FTs who are rich are ramming up the prices!

There are political costs involved in having COE prices too high. Govt have to bring it down somehow.

I think it's high time I try to address some commonly held misconception with COE, ERP and traffic jams.

Contrary to what PAP would like us to believe, COE & ERP has very minimal impact on traffic conditions. If you are a typical car owner, you'll understand why. Since I have already paid so much for my car, not using it to add to the traffic don't make sense. No matter how high the ERP I might face, I'm s obliged to use my car when I need it.

Decreasing COE quota will not have an immediate impact on car population. We have sufficient roads if we spread out the usage. The problem happens when everybody need to use the road at the same time.

So COE and ERP is really nothing more than a cash cow, which they will only hold back when the political cost exceeds the revenue benefits.

All because of PM LHL smart ideas.
Increase quota 10 year back. Then causing road congestion problem. Then come out another smart ideas implement ERP. ERP cannot solve the problem because already buy car sure use it right!
ERP can't solve the problem then make U-turn reduce COE the quota.
People get use to it driving car how many % willing to trade in car for public transport. I estimate less than 5% only those really cannot afford.
So LKY was right to implement COE but his son mess up with the number.

Further more, its not as if there is alternate route to the intended destination. Eg, If you start from Loyang and wants to go to Bt Merah, which route can you take? Only ECP/ AYE or PIE/CTE. Both are subject to ERP. You have no choice. One good eg. is the shortening of ERP hours at north-bound CTE from 10pm to 8pm. Were there congestions between 8pm and 10pm?

8pm~10pm is fucking jam.

Unless the qouta is going to be increased by a big margin, if not LPPL. Anyway, it's really congested on the road nowadays. Last time, Sunday morning traffic on the road is so smooth, can drive around expressway jiak hong. Now? Jiak sai ah! Carpark is another problem.

I'm really enjoying how PAP is painting themselves into a corner wrt private transport policy.

They distort, contort, cajole, and all other sorts of effort. In the end they will fail miserable simply because they fail to deal with the fact that this island has finite resource.

What they've done to transport, they are still doing to housing. In the future they will find themselves in a bind again. Housing will be a bigger mess and throne-breaker.

I'm not going to tell these overpaid million dollar failures how to solve it. I'll just enjoy the show.

High COE prices are not good for everyone except govt revenue..but having too much revenue and not knowing how to circulate and get the multiplier effect is not good

Oh the extra revenue will be used to pay off Ho CHing's gambling debts in the Temasek Casino,,,so sure must have huge surplus wan

If dont like the parking rate then buy landed property/condo with one free parking lot. Dont afford dont buy.
There even stupid lady ask LTY can gov help to subsidy COE price?
Want cheap car migrate to US/Australia.
Just cut the quota and increase parking charge. Buy car buy traffic jam also useless.

For a country like singapore, Public tpt should be made soo efficient that cars are deem a luxury as if public tpt is good enough, many will feel no need for cars..however over here, public tpt is getting from bad to worse, so ppl get cars but roads jam..tell me what the fuck PAP is doing about it? just raising cost but not investing in alternative modes of tpt, so what is ppl to do? Just compare with HK and you can see the difference..PAPs rent seeking behaviour is making life worse for many
