Comprehensive Plan B in event of MRT shutdown of more than a day.

Seems like the repair works are still on going, with MRT staff at every level working overtime in this predicament.

May LTA not make the mistake we made with nurses during the early days of COVid19 - thru overworking & over stressing them to provide immediate attention to save lives. Humans are NOT robots that can work 24hrs non stop, no matter how dire the situation is. Machines too will break down.

Thus, management must now put in place rotating shifts for its staff, from engineers to Human & vehicle traffic marshals, or else they will suffer breakdowns.

Although to some, that MRT stretch is small & considered a small matter, however that stretch is an arterial line that links to almost ALL other stations, & almost everyone is affected.

Should the management do not have the manpower to handle this predicament, perhaps they may consider appealing to the PM thru MinDef, to allocate some of our soldiers, unarmed but with marshal armbands, as well as drivers & engineers to help easing this adversity, the way our courageous soldiers had assisted during COVid 19 times.

May all keep calm & not let anger or frustration get in the way. Each WILL get to where they want to go eventually. We are ALL in this together. No one promised that life will be a bed of roses everyday.

All the best.

Heard someone got injured, and fault rectification works are being paused temporarily. Don't ever expect this to make the news, bcause SMRT will vehemently deny it ever happened. But whatever the case, be prepared for a few more days of no train service at least.

Regardless if that post is true or not, such is expected, from workers whom are stretched to the limits both physically & mentally. The exact details may never be known, but all knows Human emotions well - pride, ego, carelessness, arrogance, etc will be displayed - a time of showing one's true colors - right or wrong.

This calls from LEADERSHIP, from management, if they are versed & taught in Conflict Management.

Pull the conflicting members into a room & let them talk & discuss their accusations out, while getting a B team to work on the repair job - multi-tasking, so that productivity is not lost, as the ultimate goal is to restore services, which the conflicting parties are eager to complete, a COMMON GROUND which all would agree upon, after CLOUDED JUDGEMENTS subsides....

None needs to be sacked or penalized, or valuable workers would be lost due to circumstances that are beyond their emotional control. No one is perfect, more so in adverse times, & thus a need to keep a cool head at times, from SMRT staff to commuters. We Singaporeans are known as a resilient People, society & civilization. It is time that such adulation from others is not wrong.

As the MRT repair job continues on, to help others, perhaps more can share to others on how to maximize time & minimize waiting thru the many transportation APPS which are free to use, in Singapore.

Whoever wrote this shit is living in fantasy land
2. Private car owners may consider giving a lift, especially to co-workers during this period, to maximize road use & productivity for the company that they work in, during such period.

so if I tumpang my colleagues during this messy period and help alleviate the jams and congestion,....LTA, SMRT, PAP going to pay for use of my car????

so how much money they want to fork out to pay and activate SAF personnel to get involve????

You shout for what?

You think anyone would cower in fear by your anger & frustration?

Calm down, behave like a man & not like a baby throwing tantrum, & then the insignificant nobody me will hold a decent conversation with you, if you so wish.

Cheers.

1. Our NSF & NS servicemen are NOT Mercenaries. They are funded by taxpayers, as much as we can, from the PM to the poor, all whom pay taxes & gst, fortunately the poor are given financial vouchers to help them offset living costs, to be trained as an ORGANIZED entity to provide defense & security for our Civilization.

2. Battles are NOT just about moving from cover to cover while firing shots to advance. At some point, when the bullets & missiles ceased firing, the Area of Operation would have to be followed by the next phase - pacification & normalization.

Medical teams would be deployed within the area of operation to provide medical assistance to both troops & civilians, as well as engineers & technicians to repair or functionalize Utilities such as power & water, etc. Other soldiers would then be deployed for crowd management of such purposes & to keep security & peace, at least for until the war is won, where civilian authorities would take over such matters.

3. Fortunately for LTA & SMART managements, so far they had not made such a request, as they seem to have the necessary manpower on rotational shifts to ensure that the repair jobs & crowd control can go efficiently & or as quick as possible to get the MRT line up & running again.

Thus, our this cohort of NSF & NS servicemen would had miss out on an opportunity for such training in REALTIME.

SAF beside doing some brainless menial jobs like bring water to the engineers, what else can they do?

It is moot at this point to discuss about SAF as they were not required to assist in the MRT predicament, as they were not involved.

However, let's not denigrate our NSF & NS servicemen.

Remember, Singapore is an educated society & most would had completed schooling, ITE or college before they join up for National Service.

Besides crowd control, the repair works are not as it is some space program mission to Mars, where an astrophysics degree would be required, & even so, some of our NSF servicemen do have such degrees.

It is just rail tracks, electrical cables & switches, something which with simple & clear instructions, our soldiers would be able to carry such out, to help out & ensure the quick recovery of the service lines, if our men were needed.

And I had not even mentioned our NS servicemen, whom some possess degrees & experience in several fields such as medical, aeronautical engineering, etc & such talents would be put to use in the event of a National crisis, to protect & save citizens' lives.

I understand what you are driving at.
But do keep in mind, the Smrt has a very stringent protocol to follow, especially when anyone is certified fit to be able to have foot on the mrt track. Due to the protocol I don't think ns men can help in this area regarding repair works.

IMHO what they can provide is only restricted to crowd control, which sufficient manpower is already in placed, and over manpower would be detrimental rather than advantages.

The only thing I can think of could possibly require their service is to form up in lines for the various bus routes pickup and drop off point, with them holding the sign board eg to buona vista etc. Commuters will enter the passage way in between the areas they formed up and the passage will lead directly to the pickup points. We need a few hundreds of them to provide this exclusive service.
Relying solely on sign board is creating many confusions to commuters.

It's been 5 days since SMRT & various orgs had been working to restore the critical arterial line, to make it serviceable as soon as possible, as an est 500,000 citizens & others are dependent on it to earn an honest daily living.

There can be NO doubt on the sincere efforts by everyone - from mgmt, workers to commuters, HOWEVER, NO Human is a robot, especially the SMRT teams, from engineers, to technicians & the traffic marshals, including even to the bus drivers. It CANNOT be that they live to work & serve - work, sleep, return to work next day. They too, have families, loved ones, relatives, friends & commitments to settle with.

They would need to chill. The insignificant nobody me DOES NOT speak out from a liberal bleeding heart standpoint, but only upon pragmatism & productivity.

Continuous routine would not just DULL the mind, it will even extend into mental stress. Once such happens, work becomes a chore, complacency & cutting corners become the norm, will only result in further consequences, detrimental incidents & even accidents.

Thus, may the mgmt considers giving a necessary break to all in the teams, as the repair & checking works may take some time, if the mgmt had not already done so.
Commuters would had by now found alternative routes & means to get to where they need to go daily.

If necessary, SHUT DOWN even repair jobs for needed rest should there be no sufficient teams to take over. While the line is important, but FAR MORE IMPORTANT are Human lives. We Singaporeans are in this together, thru thick & thin & will not leave anyone behind, except for the whinny self centered, whom will have to learn REALITIES of life of share & concern for others than just oneself alone....

The train fault needs to happen on Election Day to have an impact. Anyway Sinkies online (prob planted) are posting comments to detract from the main issue of incompetence and mismanagement.

These ppl prob stay east side and not affected by the train fault. Lol
