To those who went through the hard times in the 50s/60s/70s and even the 80s

Mostly those born in 50/60/70 will be better. Because that time really tough time.
Those born in after 1980 when grow up will feel pressure.

Siva Choy used to jam with Tania. A great blues singer.

Yes! I lost his CD of "what you like that"...Tania, same time with "pest infested", " Black Dog Bone" etc.. there weren't that many blues band back then!..." I am your witch doctor, got a......, I feel you burn...ah ah ah, witch doctor"... misses those blues..

kite fights. those were the days. will always remember making my own kite and applying glue and broken glass to the roll of thread. cut off 3 kites in a row on a windy day, and mine was declared the champion on the field at mcpherson. the rest declined to engage. my kite was flying high but snapped to the ground with a sudden downward wind gust. it survived but the flap at the top came off. glued it back with a piece of paper, but it was never the same. it was retired and given a pension.

I was trembling with fear until I wet my pants and the urine was starting to drip on their uniforms !!
.....
It was indeed a scary episode to say the least.

your urinary incontinence still troubling you? stop drinking too often.

any bro here play with "kuti kuti", catch spiders in the bushes or catch fighting fish in the pond?

any bro here play with "kuti kuti", catch spiders in the bushes or catch fighting fish in the pond?

schoolmate had an undefeated champion spider, kept it in a metal box like everyone did, stuffed box with leaves, punched a small hole in box for spider to breathe, and regularly fed it with ants and other bugs. one morning, he woke up, opened box to check on his pet, and it was no where to be found! on closer inspection, the box was littered with pieces of red ant carcasses. further scrutiny revealed his worst fears: small green and blue remains of his beloved spider was littered among the leaves. it was a heartbreaking week for all the boys in the school. we felt for him...until the next champion spider was found.

Ang kong chua( paper card with racing car and bike, SG racing scence ) , use gua peh kow mix with fine glass ( mostly light bulb) for kite fighting string, make your own catalpult ( lastik)

until the next champion spider was found.

I kept mine in a 555 cigarette tin and I killed my own champion when I shut the lid on him and severed him in half.

It was the most traumatic experience of my life. The emotional and mental scars persist to this day.

omg! i can sympathize. there must be numerous stories of accidental spider deaths by owner error, but we seldom get to hear about it. i lost mine when my mom threw the box away with the spider. i have not forgiven. :o

I kept my one tooth spider "Tok Kong" in a transparent mint round box fed it with live houseflies.

She remains a true champion for many years. :)

The Jap occupation was indeed times of great stress.

There was one time, right in the middle of the night, the Jap soldiers came to our village and do a search. They said they were looking for a chinese rebel fugitive. They searched the whole village and left with a makcik with big melons, never to be seen again.:(
