The #RidoutGate Mega-Thread!

There may not be any wrong doing, but for all the white they wear, touting and emphasizing honesty and integrity, that they must be paid market level compensation so that they will not be corrupt, they must be up right, and appear to be up right.
It is the appearance.
At the next GE, either they retire and return to their chosen professions and make million of $$$, or those eligible to vote, should seriously not vote for these two gentlemen.
In short,they are hypocrites.

They are caught red-handed with their pants down, dicks sticking out. Can they still deny in parliament ?
In parliament, PAP ministers....yes, only PAP ministers can admit honest mistakes, say sorry, cry and everyone clap and move on.

In short,they are hypocrites.
Exactly.
After this saga or episode, they destroyed whatever superhero, or minister with integrity that the citizens should trust, image that they may have built.
As a lawyer and a medical doctor, they should know about "apparent" and actual conflict of interest.
Are those two gentlemen trying to hide under or seek Parliamentary privilege and protection, even though one or both of them claimed that he has nothing to hide.

There were two gomen owned heritage bungalows that were unused. They could have left it empty. But after enquiring, found the place affordable.

Exactly.

When you have already been exposed, you have nothing more to hide.

I'm glad SDP hasn't voiced out on this issue. This is a Reform Party show.

The two indian minister should opt out and form their own party and kick PAP out

I hope that after all these matters, including Tenasek Holdings, and the hard work and good work by the several WP MPs, Singaporeans are able to realize the sacrifices of non PAP MPs and the importance as well as benefits of voting for 20 to 50 non PAP MPs.

That's why we want check and balance ,parliamentary democracy,to check the excesses and greed of the ruling party.
The opposite of democracy will be a totalitarian or dictatorial system of govt.
In this digital age ,even Thailand in the 14-5-2023 GE,democractic parties have won a landslide victory against the dictatorial military-backed parties.

Wall of Text , zero relevance. Issue is not even size of real estate.

Issue is conflict of Interest, a high rank minister submit rental request to government organisation. Guess who will be awarded.

Nobody will question ministar if they buy the own estate to live with their own money.

The insignificant nobody simpleton me but a fellow citizen am glad that we had got the issue of envy politics over land size out of the way. For sure no leader in this world will live in a tent to administer or govern a country. Would PrezXi give up his palace in Zhong Nan Hai, as well as his other cabinet ministers? Would UK PM give up 10 Downing Street & live in a tent?

So now some wish to focus on the issue of 'Conflict of Interest'. What exactly is 'Conflict of Interest' that had broadly been bandied around here?

'Conflict of Interest' simply means someone in power who abuses his privileges & power for his own self interest instead of pursing the interests of those whom put him in power.

Let's use an analogy:- A minister who uses his free time to go to the gym, workout & lives healthily to be an example for others to follow can be considered as a 'Conflict of Interest' as he put his own self interest first when he should do more walk-about in his free time to connect with constituents. See how PETTY it can be when 'Conflict of Interest' is BROADLY bandied about?

In this issue over the 2 properties, had there been a 'Conflict of Interest'?

First, we have to recognize the fact that in Singapore, somebody will have to be in charge of something for accountability & responsibility. In his course of duty, he will come across opportunities to further the ambitions of those whom elected him into power - to impress foreign leaders & biz execs, to build trust & confidence, etc, in this case- the 2 empty vacant properties. Should he reject the opportunity, it will only be false humility, to meet others PETTY expectations of humility unnecessarily when he had been tasked to perform his duties diligently.

Furthermore, in land scarce Singapore, they both opted to rent instead of purchasing such properties, thus freeing up the land when they step down from their appointments for other appointment holders to use to further our country's ambitions & in the meantime, allow SLA to consolidate land use research with other Stat Boards for a final decision or amendments over such vacant properties & land.

So what is the issue of 'Conflict of Interest' here? To qoute Albert Einstein — 'Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.'

If the opposition parties truly wish to serve the People, there are many more relevant issues to its constituents that needs to be addressed & solutions found. Why be stuck over this PETTY issue? What is the point & what do they hope to achieve?

Depends if they have the support of Ah Wong. When ah Wong is PM he needs to clear the deck. N he needs to get rid of Ah Chan n ah Ong... because those 2 will want to back Stab him. If the 2 shit skins swear allegiance to ah Wong..than ah Wong will use them to counter Ah Chan n ah Ong. If the 2 shit skins are kawans with Ah Chan n ah Ong....ah Wong will get rid of them 1st...n the 2 shit skins are getting old. It's also the time or the pap renewal crap

You trying to say that both this two ministers do not owned a land property of their own ? They must have ,before they rented this , question is whether their landed property is still around, sold off or rented out ?
