The Gurkhas didn't shoot youI passed by the southern part of Ridout Road many times on my hikes. There is a huge house with very nice decorations for various festive seasons e.g. Halloween, Christmas, CNY etc. Because some parts of that road have no pavements to walk on, I had to stick close to one side of the road.
So that house belonged to one of our keling ministars. I had no idea.
Now black dog also tio harassed.this siao char bor harassing him is definitely and certainly not his mistress.
When you have a fuckwit 官二代 as the PM for almost two decades, and his wife literally grasping the country's financial testicles in her hands... you have already relinquished all transparency and accountability.
The Faustian bargain has been made: you keep them in power, let them do whatever they please, in exchange for promises of 'prosperity' and 'stability'.
This place may have secret bunkers to hide if war break out... other than that in peace time for juicy parties who knows what...
In b4 if live in smaller property than Kwek LB, Peter Lim, it means no dignity when speaking to biz leaders.
Ehh.. hello.... every ministry is given a big building to do their jobs...Most Singaporeans living here lives sheltered lives & not many bother to venture out overseas to see real life there. It's okay, so long as each is happy & contend, to use hard earned money to sustain one's & one's loved ones lives here, to spend here & sustain our economy.
The longings may be there as adventuresome is inbuilt into Human genes since civilization began, but Singaporeans are pragmatic, more so with internet that can bring anyone to the further corners of planet Earth without even spending a single precious cent in these inflationary & recessionary threatening times..
As for the subject matter, foreign leaders & biz teams DO live in palaces in their home vast landscapes. ULTIMATELY, no matter how narrow minded they are or especially egalitarian they are, FIRST impressions counts, & such are how they judge CREDIBILITY in matters of policies.
Only perhaps the late Queen of England, owner of VAST imaginable land space at home & overseas - Elizabeth the 2nd, would venture to visit a 3 room flat in Toa Payoh in the late 70s, & probably thank her lucky stars that she did not had to live in such a small but habitable space for a small family, but NONE of present World leaders would do the same as her.
In that small space which is habitable for a family to grow to bigger spaces later on - with our democratic institutions & assistances, so long as one is gainfully employed to rise - there will be many aspects of national & international discussions to be held which will NOT be conducive for such to be conducted there in the small space, let alone SECURITY concerns, as well as inconveniences to neighbors living there.
Thus for sure, our Cabinet Ministers cannot be living in HDB flats, or even Condos, NO matter how altruistic or egalitarian they are, so long as they hold important National Portfolios which requires them to hold official or non-official but discussion groups in their secured home-space.
Another issue is the similar aspect of CREDIBITY by foreigners on 1st impressions of how our Ministers live. Should the Cabinet Minister be living in a small space, although in land scarce Singapore, they WILL have questions of the LEVEL of SUPPORT that the Ministers are getting from its voters. If we voters cannot even afford to let our Cabinet Ministers at least live in wide open & secure spaces, how more are they to believe that we citizens have any capability to support their aspirations or biz needs which in return will create jobs for us & demand for our products & services?
Ot really depends on whether there is any restrictions on the piece of property. If its heritage, or in a low residential density zone.To give you a fair valuation of the two Maharajahs' bungalows; very recently across the Napier Road at Nassim Road, OBS sold 3 GCB lots at $4550 psf.
At Ridout Road the two lots being very big; conservatively it should be around $2500 - $2800 psf.
Rajah Shammed's 306,930 sq ft at $2500 = $767,325,000 & chup cheng Vivien's 136,101 sq ft at $2500 = $340,252,500.
Very few are willing to write about the former spouse of the snake...why no one dares to write about their spouses, 1st, 2nd and possibly secret ones ?
I remember late Devan Nair's most private life, was published in a "white paper",.. descriptions of late man, wore wig, to sneak out of Istana, to play with German Frau',..
Life is Never Fair
Conflict of interest is a privilege only enjoyed by a despotic regime likes ours.
