I doubt the parents will get anything out of the govt. I seen with my own eye a recruit with scholarship waiting for him after NS become a slightly retard because heat stroke fried his brain during late afternoon physical training conducted by PTI. It not the PTI fault but the platoon PC who single out the recruit as a chaokeng and grill the recruit personally. the recruit already voice out during fall in to be not feeling well but was ignore and order to get back in rank. He suffer fits just 200m from finishing line while the chao keeling PC stared in shock. it was a delta company PC/WO who shove his hand into the recruit mouth to stop him from biting his own tongue. First time see helievac by super puma in less than 15days of enlistment. We haven't even have our first book out yet already so happening. Nobody was punished for it despite my whole platoon protest to the welfare officer and we were threatened with punishment if we don't stop protesting.

because of this experience, I told myself that I rather be charged than follow idiotic orders that are dangerous.

Another weakling who could risk the lives of his fellow soldiers during combat by collapsing before a shot is fired. Honestly it is better for these defective soldiers to be detected during training.

If they are allowed to rise through the ranks despite their shortcomings it will be worse off for the rest of us later on.

Training has be tougher than actual combat. This will ensure that soldiers who are sent to war can withstand the heat of battle.

Should conflict erupt there'll be a lot more than 6 smoke grenades thrown. When you depend on smoke to save your life you're going to throw as much as is necessary.

It is better for this asthma guy to kick the bucket now rather than when he's needed in real battle. Imagine what would happen to a section who's depending on him to provide covering fire while they charge up a hill. They throw a bunch of smoke grenades and the twit goes into convulsions and dies instead of performing his assigned task of keeping the enemy at bay.

Instead of one dead soldier the whole section could be wiped out all because one asthmatic whose condition was not revealed during training as a result of lame safety regulations that had training unrealistically soft and easy.

It is better to sacrifice one solder during peacetime if it means savings the lives of 8 or more in future combat.

no need to said until like that lah. Do SAF know about his asthma condition in the first place? if dunno, it just an unfortunate accident while maybe able to prevent if the trainee inform the safety/conducting officer. Unless the officer ignore the trainee, then the officer should be held responsible.

I wonder asthmatic soldiers need to attend gas mask training as it involve setting off tear gas in enclosed chamber after trainees do 5BX in mope suit before putting on the mask and changing the mask filter

the case very special, smoke grenade can kill. My time only worry smoke grenade set off fire in vegetation so always try to throw on bare ground.

don't whack the guy because you want to make a point. He already want to fall out during fall in but was push back into the rank. If the safety procedure of asking anybody not feeling well is only for show then SAF should not even ask in the first place. Since he already said he not feeling well, then let the MO decide whether he chaokeng or not.

When I was in SAFTI I charged many trainees for malingering.

After the word spread nobody dared report sick when I was on duty so even those with high fever just popped a handful of panadol pills and carried on.

Needless to say my company had the lowest report sick rate and I was commended by the CO for keeping my men fighting fit. It was a proud day for me.

Forget the cheap rhetoric and sloganeering. "Tough" training does not mean there need to be deaths, let alone needless deaths or that death caused by negligence should be acceptable.

As I have mentioned earlier, there are training safety regulations in place even for the training of elite / special forces around the world, the SAS, SEALS, Delta Force, GSG 9, etc. Their training involves a whole lot more than the benchmark of "tough training" that you have undergone and highlighted; running a pathetic 8 km, having 2 hours of drill in the mid day sun with no food or water and always having to be armed and ready with a box of panadols to impress the CO.

Should conflict erupt there'll be a lot more than 6 smoke grenades thrown. When you depend on smoke to save your life you're going to throw as much as is necessary.

Still can't get it huh? This is Training Safety Regulations. It's not Operational Safety Regulations where no one will give a toss about how many smoke grenades you can throw or whether you abide by the 10-20 metre safety rule.

I doubt the parents will get anything out of the govt.

Lee Kuan Yew capitulated one year after the the Graduate Mother's Scheme was introduced in 1984 following an angry uproar from the public especially by women. The schemes to reward graduate mother and the degrading, punitive measure against non graduate mothers were reversed and gradually rolled back.

Like his father, Lee Hsien Loong will not dare to fuck around and will find a face saving way out of this issue as the parents of this soldier are, in effect, a proxy for all parents in Singapore.

because of this experience, I told myself that I rather be charged than follow idiotic orders that are dangerous.

Looks like that this is the correct way to go until the rules are changed.

you are so cheap to take a pat on the back as compliment, you should have been more bolder and ask him vacate his post so you can take over and not just your company can benefit, the entire singapore can benefit.

MGTOW = Pussy Disobedience.

Real man is not manipulated by pussy.. Only mangina losers are easily swayed by the mere thought of pussy.

I stated this earlier when I started this thread:

Powers of punishment of superior commander

70.—(1) A superior commander may upon conviction of an accused who is an officer below the rank of lieutenant-colonel or a warrant officer impose any one of the following punishments:

(a) forfeiture of seniority of rank and forfeiture of all or any part of his service for purposes of promotion;
(b) a fine not exceeding —
(i) in the case of officers who are of the rank of captain or major, a sum of $1,000 ; and
(ii) in the case of officers below the rank of captain and of warrant officers, a sum of $500 ; or
(c)reprimand.

(2) In addition to or in lieu of any other punishment, the superior commander may order that the accused shall suffer any deduction from his ordinary pay authorised by this Act.

This was taken from the Singapore Statutes Online webpage on the day I posted the message, i.e. 09 March 2016. On the morning of 11 March the website still displayed this same information. By and from the afternoon of 11 March 2016, the updated Act was uploaded to include the changes made on 23 November 2009 (Amendment Act 28 of 2009). It now includes "ME"("Military Expert") and the changes of fines for Captains from a maximum of $1,000 to $3,000 (see attached pic).

Either there was a technical problem with the webpage or just sheer coincidence that the webpage was updated with the latest SAF Act or as I have stated before, MINDEF and other government agencies do monitor this forum (and others). So, it took Ms Teoh Ai Lin, Director Legal Services, MINDEF, 2 days to fix this up.

Bottomline, those two assholes could have been fined up to $3,000 instead of what i stated earlier, i.e. $1,000.

I would have been happy to have seen some real action during my NS days. I've stared death in the face before and conflict would simply have been one more experience of living on the edge.

Yah right. When your porn torrent hung.

In ang mor lands without conscription..such weaklings will not be in such a situation on the 1st place..so why still have conscription which is not effective? Even taiwan being threatened by cina land and krautland have done away or minimised it. There will be more deaths now as such clown officers know there is no consequences to the deaths n cock ups they cause...typical pap culture. And in singkieland. We will never have good officers with the likes of Rommel n Von Manstein if such attitudes r prevalent in the saf..we r no better than 3rd world african dictator militias. Tat is the pap u r proud of.
