Chitchat The Official TCSS Thread

Anyone who still thinks VAR is a good idea in its present form needs to watch the complete shambles around that City penalty decision.

#SpursvManCity
Chaos, after 2 minutes then the referee awarded a penalty to Man City while the game was still playing, what will happen if either of the team score a goal?

Yes. Mike Dean was wrong about the Spurs player getting the ball. He was so sure though.

So what would you rather have? Mike Dean makes a mistake and gets away with it? Or the right decision be made?

This is why the referee should go to the TV monitor and watch the replay if there is a VAR review taking place and not let play continue.

If there is no VAR review then play can continue and the referee need not go to the TV monitor.

I have been thinking about what Jurgen Klopp has been doing with fielding the U-23 team for the domestic cup competitions.

I think it is a brilliant move! And Klopp very cleverly took advantage of certain situations to do it.

Here's what makes it so good

1) Nobody really cares about the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup anymore. They are seen as "consolation" trophies. Nobody sets out to want to win them. If you win it....oh ok that's good. So why bother really?

2) He took the opportunity during the fixture pile up in Dec to do the U-23 team switcheroo for the Carabao Cup. Once he successfully did it, he knew that acceptance will come to this move.

3) Fielding young teams allows the younger players experience playing in top level competitive games. Which is good for their development. At the same time it puts pressure on the other team to perform against the kids.

4) MOST IMPORTANT - it takes pressure off the first team. You will want to rest players. But if you lose games you lose some of that swagger and confidence. Klopp wants none of that. Not in these consolation cup competitions that nobody cares about LOSING.

Brilliant!

*update*

LFC U-19s actually beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0! The Treble dream is still on!

Klopp masterstroke! Credit to Neil Crichtley and the boys! Goes to show we have pretty good quality in the youngsters who can still develop. The team played much better than the one away last week. Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip should hang their heads in shame. It was their defensive shambles that hurt LFC last week.

Limited games will be played over 2 weeks for winter break.
All clubs are set to be guaranteed a minimum of 13 days between games, which would mirror the system in Italy and Spain. However some, such as Chelsea and Manchester United, will get 16 days. Because clubs require a minimum of 13 days, all teams playing in European competition in the week of Feb. 18-20 had to take their break on the weekend of Feb. 8.

Germany has a huge winter break; it lasted 22 days last season and will be 28 days in 2019-20. The Bundesliga has four fewer rounds of fixtures, while there is only one cup competition with single legs.

It also must be noted that Germany -- just like Spain, Italy and France -- has a complete shutdown for its winter break rather than splitting fixture lists.

Ancelotti was fuming at substitute Sidibe after he went down the tunnel instead of into the field, I thought he needed a toilet break urgently, but it was'nt the case, that's why he was fuming. Sidibe forgot to wear a sock on his left leg, what a joke.

Really? So cartoon?

Yes, I was watching the game and also did not realise his left leg was without a sock, Sidibe also did not realise his left leg was without a sock, after he bended down trying to pull the sock, Ancelotti was fuming because the injured Walcott already left the field and Everton had to play with 10 man after his returned.

I think Ancelotti knew it straight away, he was looking at his legs.

***Breaking News***
UEFA ban Man City from Champions League for 2 seasons.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51510284

But seriously, Man City won't be getting banned, this will be appealed, and they’ll win their appeal. Money rules football and Sheikh Mansour has shed loads of it.

City have broken the rules but are still competing in this year CL. they should be expelled. what if they win it and lost the appeal, the CL will be a joke.

Wow.

Cooked the books!

Aiyah this whole financial fair play thing.....either you enforce it or just do away with it.

Let's see what happens to City. It is so obvious there is no financial fair play that a club that is usually in the relegation zone in EPL suddenly becomes a top club with some of the best players and most expensive players in the world. It's not like they found some players early in their careers and bought them then developed them.

Everyone knows this. The other club is Chelsea. But I don't see Chelsea being punished this severely. Oh that's right cos Chelsea didnt cook their books.

Russian still more honest than Arabs.

With that win Liverpool has qualified for next season's Champions League.

For Liverpool

5 more games to win for the title.

West Ham home
Watford away
Bournemouth home
Everton away
Crystal Palace home

Might be less depending on how ManCity does in their next few games

West Ham home
Leicester City away
Arsenal home
Man Utd away
Burnley home
Chelsea away

Wonder if the 2 year CL ban will affect the City players? I can see how knowing that next season you wont be in playing in the CL will make you want to leave the club.

think UEFA can win the City appeal. it's their competition. they reserve the rights to explain / implement the rules according to their interpretation. looking forward to the EPL punishment of City.

Haha, they said Liverpool can win 2 championship this season, if Man City is deducted points from last season.
Liverpool don't need that, just this season, winning it majestically and historically.

Hey if they deduct points from last season and give LFC last seasons title I will take it. Because that would bring us level on ManU with 20 top flight titles won.

Don't worry. Liverpool will retain the champion next season. If Man city is penalised, no doubt they will play less games, more advantages but then the star players will be sold. I will take Sane and KDB.

Athletico Madrid 1 Liverpool 0

Athletico Madrid played well. Neutralized Liverpool. Salah was misfiring today.

Can LFC overturn the deficit at Anfield? I am not so sure. Diego Simeone has his team well drilled defensively.

I think Liverpool might be out of the CL.
