Who made Singapore almost 100% dependent on natural gas from one single source for electricity generation in the first place when we already had diesel?

Sinkapore is indefensible. The money spent on SAF is wasteful spending. Paying the US for protection would be cheaper and spare tens of thousand men from hardship.
Not so easy, bro. US naval power is key to our defence yes, but their foreign policy toward the region is inherently volatile. We need a strong deterrent to assure others that we can maintain the peace. The problem with the PAP govt is overspending on non-critical areas and other wasteful use of resources.
Discrimination of NS Men at the workplace and other hardships NS Men face also have to be looked into. The govt appears not to care at all. These people lose jobs, sacrifice family time, even lose business deals because of NS liabilities. Have some decency to protect their interests.

Still don't get it? No one wants to attack. All they need to show a little muscle. If our military is weak, their show of muscle will cause people to lose confidence. Once sentiment toward SG security has soured, our economy will go downhill.
I don't trust the Chinese to maintain the balance of power in the Asia Pac region. In fact I believe they will work to disrupt it.

If you say that they are they are a threat just because Spore is undefended, you are not considering the realities in this region. Spore has many treaties e.g. ASEAN, SEATO, ....

No one is asking that we strip Spore of all it's defences. It's just that too much is being spent & plenty of $$ is being spent to spy on & harass it's citizens.
I don't see why we need a mercenary force in Spore just to protect certain people
We already have millions of potential troublemakers in Spore. Many have probably received military training e.g. in the PRC army
For all we know they could be sleepers among them & can form any future fifth column.

Nether side can be certain what the other will do if the other party invades Spore. So this uncertainty will keep them from doing anything rash.
If one side does invade, the other side will counter the move. Such a counter may eve mean that one side may aid in Spore's defence.
Maids are not the only Indonesians in Spore . There are plenty of wealthy Indonesians in Spore. Haven't you ever wondered who are buying the properties, condos, attending our schools/international schools?
There is plenty of Indonesian money in Spore. Some of it is dirty money that belongs to the elites of indonesia.
Spore also serves as a centre for money laundrying, medical hub, casino hub, etc So it's in the interests of the Indonesian elite to maintain the status quo of Spore
Don't forget about the other nationals in Spore e.g. PRC There is the threat of China getting involved in any dispute.

In the case of Spore we are too small to get involved. If Malaysia wants to re-claim Spore, they are welcome. It will mean that Sporeans can buy cheaper Malaysian property.
