Because finland only got nokia.
Switzerland on the other hand has rolex, banks, nestle, novartis, roche, glencore, ABB, holcim, toblerone,.....

These are the brands that the Swiss enjoy being associated with. The reality is a lot darker. Switzerland is among the world's top arms exporters and they have no qualms about selling arms to despot regimes with a litany of human rights abuses.

Not to mention they own mining companies which operates mines in Africa which pays little to no taxes, lucrative mines such as copper and cobalt, billions of profits which is channeled to the shitizen's pockets....if only our government possesses for sight such as this.

You can't "adopt" a standard of living you twit it has to earned through productivity gains and hard work.
If u adopt the tax system and redistribution system the "standard of living" will naturally follow u nitwit.just like the "Swiss standard of living".u can't have the swissland without the Swiss policies of socialism and egalitarianism.

This does not sound like an egalitarian tax system to me...

Switzerland remains high atop the list of preferred tax havens due to its low taxation of foreign corporations and individuals. Although Switzerland is no longer a place to “hide” money due to pressure from the United States and the European Union (EU), it still offers the wealthy some benefits for living and keeping their money there. Recent studies show that as much as $2.5 trillion in wealth is held within Switzerland’s borders.

Taxation: The Big Draw
Contrary to popular opinion, Switzerland does not allow foreign individuals to live and bank in its borders tax free. However, wealthy individuals can pay a low, lump-sum option on the money they bank inside the country, and the government considers their taxes paid. To simplify matters, the government bases the amount of tax foreigners owe on five times their monthly rent. The country also taxes households, rather than individuals, and this simplifies, and sometimes lowers, taxation for wealthy couples. For the wealthy, this level of low taxation is viewed as an unparalleled benefit of living in Switzerland. It is important to note that these tax benefits are not available to individuals who relocate to Switzerland for employment purposes.

If reaching a high standard of living depended only on tax and redistribution there wouldn't be a single poor country in the world.

Money first has to be earned before it can be taxed and redistributed. For a country to earn $$$$ it must create and export stuff that the rest of the world wants to buy.

Of course we are talking about countries that are already highly developed with rich economies like Japan in the 80s and UK,both known to be egalitarian welfare paradises during that time, not poor third world countries....capitalism to develop the country, socialism for the Swiss standard of living.

Singapore must adopt the best aspects of Switzerland's education system, which emphasises vocational training, to prepare young people for an uncertain future, Education Minister Ong Ye Kung said yesterday.

To achieve that, society must broaden its notion of success.

"The secret and deciding ingredients for success are still societal norms, beliefs and culture," Mr Ong said in a keynote address at the 3rd International Congress on Vocational and Professional Education and Training in Switzerland.

Mr Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, head of Switzerland's Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research and US Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos were present.

Mr Ong said the Singapore and Switzerland education system faced the danger of becoming obsolete due to technological disruption, and the "creative destruction" caused by computers replacing human functions.

With national borders "more porous than ever" and divisive forces creating fractures in societies between classes, age groups, races and religions, the youth need to be equipped with critical "soft skills", like the ability to collaborate with fellow human beings, Mr Ong stressed.

He said the Swiss dual study system, which combines classroom study with workplace apprentice training, is of particular interest to Singapore.

"I see a more egalitarian society, where parents and children choose either the academic or apprenticeship route based on the child's interests, aptitudes and passion," Mr Ong said.

But Singapore's education system has served students well, he said, citing the good performances of the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University in international rankings.

This bugger no brain...

First of all, vocational training only works in a country with strong industrial support from govt.... not from a govt who trains foreigners and employs majority foreigners to do the vocational job that u tried to train ur citizens.
A good example would be the information tech(computer science) back in the 1990s. Govt encourage students to study computer... then now they employs abnn from india to replace singaporeans.

Second, Singapore needs a proper companies background for a dual study system. Meaning? Singapore local companies need to have a need to prioritize local students. At the same time, singapore companies need to upgrade their system(management) properly. Singapore bosses and management dun even know how to motivate employees... dun know how to value employees... to them employees are replaceable. So nobody cares about human resource. they rather buy new BMW than retain a talented staff simply because they think their the best and their employees are stupid daft... With such a environment, Singapore cannot even hope to employ such a dual education system.
