This a hearsay story.

When SilkAir Flight 185 crashed into the Musi River near Palembang Indonesia in December 1997, our local paper broke the story to the public, apparently after many international agencies had already caught and published the news.

But according to the story told, a Cabinet Minister in the crisis meeting following the revelation, banged his fist on the table and lambasted the reporter for announcing it to the public without prior consultation with his ministry.

Anyone heard the tale?

Did the pilot crash the plane???

I thought you means the minister fucked the reporter in the plane cause it to crash...

You need to shoot your source for coming out with rubbish like that. Also need to shoot yourself for not having basic analytical skills and common sense.

The crash took place just after 4pm. By evening it was on TV news and all over the world. Whole of Singapore knew of the crash (except maybe you) by midnight. The newspaper came out the next morning and they obviously did not break the story as it was already broken, an omelet was made and eaten by then.

The scolding incident was a few days later for suggesting that the pilot was in financial distress and insinuating suicide. As usual the brothel put a lid on it. This pilot was one of 5 clowns flying formation in Philippines when they thought the highest mountain is as high as Bukit Timah Hill and 4 of them slammed into a mountainside when they broke thru a cloud. Only this clown escaped. This clown was the only one who missed and thought he was on a second life and began acting crazy. He was previously caught switching off the voice recorder and had been demoted and pushed to Silkair for disciplinary issues. He still was facing disciplinary issue when it occurred.

found that incident.
Tsu's background was military. The Air Force had been a large part of his life since the age of 19. Eventually rising to become an aerobatic fighter pilot in Singapore's elite Black Knights, he had clocked more than 4,000 hours in military cockpits. Many of those hours were spent pulling gravity-defying manoeuvres in Skyhawks on missions through Asia. He had won high praise in an air-to-ground bombing trial, graduated top of his class in a pilot attack instructor course, and earned the respect and loyalty of his Air Force peers. But his service was not without tragedy. While flying a single-seat Skyhawk in formation with four others during a training run in the Philippines in 1979, disaster struck.

''They were getting experience at flying in mountainous regions in cloud,'' said a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) pilot who knew three of the officers. By a stroke of good fortune, Tsu had been forced to pull out of the formation and return to base because of mechanical problems, shortly before the other three flew into a mountain. All were killed. The date was December 19. Eighteen years to the day later, Silkair Flight MI 185 crashed in Sumatra.

i'm sorry is this some sort of urban legend? any air force to lose 5 airplanes in a single non-combat incident would have made headlines to mars, especially if it happens to the region's best airforce. you're kidding right?
