Strong SGD ruins local manufacturing jobs. A country without engineering, manufacturing and distribution industries has no innovation to speak of, in the long run. Even Switzerland is a major banking and manufacturing hub.

These days, our country is attracting rich to park their money here, these money are not investment that really creates jobs, except for a few more in banking sector.

A colleague shared that he will be on leave later this week so i need to briefly cover him. I thought he was going spend time with his kids during school holidays but he shared that he will bring his ktv gal to sea aquarium.

I know a senior who stays in a 4-rm HDB, renting out 2 rooms which provides her a steady retirement income. Her two sons never really give her any monthly allowance despite "rich" enough to stay in private properties.

Of course, the two sons over-stretched, spent a lot on kids' tuitions, car, home loan + expensive tours annually to share on FB and IG.

Once a while..................they even go back to mum to ask for money because they know their mum got some rental income and savings.

As for myself, my pay is now back to 15 years ago. Can you believe it? every month is like negative cashflow.

Expenses are higher now - still got to fund the kids and parents.

I quit due to a crazy lady boss based in HK and had health issues. Not easy to transition but I found a new hobby in trading derivatives. Nowadays I look to the weekday evenings.
