Chico Loco promises “Real Chicken, Real Good”. That is their tagline as they guarantee that they only use chickens that have a 100% natural diet, contain less fat and cholesterol, are logically and ethically farmed, and are cage-, hormone- and antibiotic-free. Plus, no msg is added into their food, so you don’t have to worry about not eating healthy at Chico Loco. This new Mexican joint features spit-roasted chicken, which comes in three sizes – quarter ($9), half ($17) and whole ($32). Other Mexican dishes are also available as sides like guacamole ($5) and handmade flour tortillas ($1 each).

2. Sa Tae Bak

10 new dining destinations

This humble skewer bar is inspired by Japanese-style izakaya bars and they offer affordable food and alcoholic drinks. Some favourites are the enoki bacon ($2.50), succulent chicken thigh and leek ($1.50) and extra chewy rice cake wrapped in bacon ($2). We’ve also heard that the cold tofu with century egg ($3.50) is a crowd favourite, so definitely try that out if you’re thinking of eating there. So why not order up a few skewers and some alcoholic drinks that would pair amazingly with your food?

Who grew up eating putu piring? We know we did! Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring’s kuehs are super fluffy and made from rice flour, filled with a warm gula melaka filling that has crystallised bits. You can also get some coconut flakes on the side to accompany your Putu Piring order! It is quite popular during their peak hours, but we’d recommend going when there’s a queue to ensure that your Putu Piring is made to order!

Senor,

(Probably the Owner)
on how she can stand the whole day.

She replied "by eating sambal".

3. The Tipsy Wolves

Even though they just opened not long ago, they are already known for their high-end Western cuisine at hawker prices. However, you can be sure that the portions are filling, and the quality of the food can be vouched for. Plus, don’t expect your run-of-the-mill western fare here. While they have burgers and fish and chips, they also have dishes that lean more fusion, like the grilled pork belly ($10.90) – a pork belly steak that is sous-vide for 16 hours before being grilled to retain the moisture in the meat, and crayfish laksa pasta ($10.90)!

This café has been garnering plenty of attention because of its beautifully decorated shop and menu items. As the name suggests, the place is filled with flowers, making this café an Instagrammer’s paradise. Not only is the decor flower-themed, the drinks are garnished with real flowers as well! Here, you can get all-day brunch. Nicole’s Favours ($21.90+) consists of sourdough toast, topped with avocado, smoked salmon and pomegranate seeds. It is accompanied by a fried egg, salad, grilled pork sausage and hashbrown strips! Their thick, fluffy soufflé pancakes ($15.90 – $19.90) are also a must-try. Oh, also, they’re pet-friendly, which means that you can bring your little furkids with you!
