are you saying that your exposure overseas has changed your view of pap?

It has changed my overall view of Singapore as a whole and that includes the way the PAP operates.

It has also made me realise how fragile the apparent stability is and that nothing can be taken for granted.

I have also realised that Singapore is an oasis in a very unstable region and that things could take a turn for the worse at any time.

This gives me a measure of understanding as to why the PAP is so paranoid about allowing the same degree of freedoms that the Western democracies enjoy.

There are various factors at play. Age is one of them. Time spent abroad is another. Knowledge of the forces that shape the muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesia affect my views of reality too. I grew up with Malays. I ate at their homes and played football with them. I understand their view of their place in Singapore and how religion shapes their overall values. I have lived through the period when Singapore was part of Malaysia.

People view this as a distant past fading from memory but there is absolutely no guarantee that history will not repeat itself. Read up the history of Lebanon and Czechoslovakia and you'll understand where I am coming from.

Fly fishing is the most common way of catching trout.

Instead of being angry with the FTs, you should learn to be a bit more humble and learn some of their skills.

FTs come to Singapore so they can help the country economically by filling the skills gaps. You should show some gratitude rather than express your anger.

My nephews in Singapore are not complaining. They're all doing well and earning good money considering their age.

The ones in their 30's and 40's are not so badly off, but those born after 1980 are the ones who may have problems.

That is because trouts were brought in from the UK and the US via New Zealand. Trouts are not native to Australia.
