The youth, Suraj Srikan who was arrested by police, was suspected to have mental issues. He then went out jogging with a knife, and attacked the deceased who had never met each other. He was arrested yesterday and charged today.



The murder occurred at about 11 pm on the 10th May, near the bus stop opposite HDB Block 227A in Punggol Sumang Lane.

After a thorough investigation by the police, there was a breakthrough in the murder. He successfully arrested a 20-year-old male suspect at 2:45 am yesterday.

It is understood that Suraj, said that he wanted to go out for a run that night, but he unknowingly brought a knife. He took out the knife and stabbed Zheng Ruihao from back when he saw him.

The suspect’s mother stated that her son had mental problems, but did not explain much about it.

if you look at the figures of birth its even more alarming ...almost for every 5 children born today 1 has autism ...autism is simply a child without our social behaviours to put in simplicity...autism in Greek means living in a bubble ...these children though of higher intellect are living in their very own world...and they are usually born to educated parents ,particularly if the father is an engineer.

That's the likely outcome. But I think such a murderer is even more dangerous than someone who kills out of revenge, adultery, money dispute, etc. Because you can try to avoid having such situations, but in this case, the victim could not avoid anything other than not jogging at night. Mental cases should be given help, but once they kill or rape someone, the punishment should be the same as someone deemed to be sane.

With normal people if they attack you or abuse you or shout at you or rape you there is justice there is sensibility you can say hey you cannot do that! You have to be responsible for your actions bear the consequences.

As a psychiatrist if your insane patient attacks you and gouges out and eye you have to say I am so sorry that you were sick in the mind and are my eye. You need help. We will try to help you better.

Born Xiao or Xiao due to drugs or alcohol should not make a difference. There was plenty of time and opportunity for him to get better or get clean and sober. He had family support.

Frankly, it is a waste of money and time keeping this killer in jail or IMH. He deserves the death penalty.

No, it's the beginning of the formation of ghettos. These problems plague the low SES and these are the more affordable neighborhoods for the low SES.

With normal people if they attack you or abuse you or shout at you or rape you there is justice there is sensibility you can say hey you cannot do that! You have to be responsible for your actions bear the consequences.

As a psychiatrist if your insane patient attacks you and gouges out and eye you have to say I am so sorry that you were sick in the mind and are my eye. You need help. We will try to help you better.

my thoughts were indeed the same ...but the question why is natural selection going that direction?

I'll be the devil's advocate here. If society bears this burden, it will come down to nurses, doctors, caregivers, parents, etc, who will have to shoulder this burden. Do we have the right to demand this of another human being? To put another human being in harm's way to support our own moral ground?

Even if they say, yes I am willing to do that to earn a salary - would you be comfortable allowing your own loved ones to make that choice?

And what if one day your loved ones are victims of such a crime? Would you still support pallative care for these patients, on the basis that they were not mentally capable of understanding their wrongdoing?
