I wonder who is the bastard who leaked this....based on the above 4, I can only see one.

Why Png got one vote only? He voted for himself is it?

Sibei jialat. Now Png is exposed as a liar. He said he volunteered to take his name out of ballot as he was not happy with NCMP system. Truth is he only received one miserable vote in the ballot. Gerald received 7!

Re: Jia lut liao Png Eng Huat lie to the media on his NCMP stand exposed by document

Png, you fell into a PAP trap. There was never any need to reply to the DPM.

You could have just played humble and admitted that you were not the best candidate for Hougang and that if DPM was really concerned about having the best people to serve Singapore, and not just Hougang, all the more they should dismantle GRCs and cease all gerrymandering. In that sense, DPM is also not the best candidate for Pasir Ris Ponggol GRC !

NON-CONSTITUENCY MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT (NCMP)

The first decision to make was whether WP should accept the NCMP seats.

CEC deliberated and unanimously decided to accept the two NCMP seats offered to the Party.

...

NCMP SEAT OFFERED TO EAST COAST GRC
Chairman reported that East Coast GRC team had obtained the third highest percentage of votes but only one candidate from the East Coast GRC team could take up the NCMP seat. Hence CEC had to nominate one of the candidates from the East Coast GRC team to take up the seat.

Chairman explained the procedure of secret ballot. She said that if the result of the first ballot ended up with a tie, CEC would take a short break and reconvene a second secret ballot. Thereafter, if there was still a tie, Chairman would then exercise a casting vote.

CEC agreed with the procedure.

Eric Tan Heng Chong read from a prepared letter explaining why he should be nominated to take up the NCMP seat. He reiterated that he was the team leader of the East Coast GRC, and that SG had agreed to support him months ago if his team were qualified for NCMP seats. He further revealed that on Tuesday, 10 May 2011, SG and Chairman had met up with him, asking him instead to reconsider allowing a younger candidate in his team to take up the seat.

Eric Tan said that he felt betrayed, as he had put in a lot of effort in this GE to build up the team; he had worked hard and had contributed to the party in past years. Although he understood the need and the importance of party leadership renewal, it should be done in a proper manner and not sprung on him like a bomb.

SG clarified that when he agreed to support Eric Tan for NCMP seat, he did not envisage the current scenario of only one seat being available to the team, as in usual circumstance, there would be two seats available when a GRC team is qualified to take up NCMP seat. That was also the reason why he decided to speak to Eric Tan with the Chairman to explain the situation and to impress upon him the critical situation WP faced in the future regarding leadership renewal, if the party failed to plan ahead now. It was beyond just personal support.

SG said that in any case, both Eric Tan and him had agreed at the meeting that both would accept the decision of the CEC in good faith and move on.

Thus, SG proposed that while he understood Eric Tan’s position and how he felt, CEC should go into the balloting process immediately since Eric Tan had been allowed to state his view to the CEC instead of prolonging the debate.

Shin Leong felt that the views of the East Coast team members should be heard. Chairman noted that they had already made their views known via email to CEC.

CEC went into the process of secret balloting.

The results of the ballot were as follows:-

Number of Votes to nominate Gerald Giam : 7
Number of Votes to nominate Eric Tan : 5
Number of Votes to nominate Png Eng Huat : 1
Abstentions : 1

Gerald Giam was declared elected to accept the NCMP seat offered to East Coast GRC team.

Eric Tan said that he would resign from the party and tendered his letter of resignation to SG and Chairman. Chairman and SG as well as other CEC members urged Eric Tan to reconsider his decision. SG said that he would not open his letter until Eric Tan had made a clear decision later, after the meeting.

Chairman closed the meeting at 8.35pm.

PAP are experts in making a mountain out of a molehill. And with the press ready to fan any flame into fire, WP must now send in their Fire Brigade, and not the Chiong Brigade.

The suspicion of an inside job cannot be discounted. I suspect the press will seize the opportunity to interview Eric Tan and possibly Poh Lee Guan in a bid to blow the matter out of proportion.

SINGAPORE - A day after a source claimed that Workers' Party (WP) candidate Png Eng Huat had never asked to be be off the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) ballot, Mr Png today explained it was part of the procedure for every candidate to be considered.

Speaking to reporters outside the Hougang Town Council, Mr Png said he had made clear to party chief Low Thia Khiang and his East Coast GRC teammates that he did not want to be considered for the NCMP seat but it was part of the procedure for every candidate in the team to be included for consideration in the secret ballot by the CEC.

He clarified that he meant he did not want to be considered as a candidate for the NCMP post when he told Channel NewsAsia that he had taken his name out from the ballot. He apologised for causing confusion to those who thought he had literally omitted his name from the ballot papers.

Mr Png added Mr Low will be addressing this issue at the WP rally tonight.

A source had emailed the media last night with what was said to be a copy of the minutes from the WP Executive Council extraordinary meeting, held on May 12 last year, after Mr Png told CNA yesterday he had taken his name out of the NCMP ballot.

He was responding to Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean's question on Sunday, on why the WP did not put up Mr Png for the NCMP post following the General Election last year, if it wanted him in Parliament.

The source claimed Mr Png had never stated he was against the NCMP scheme, and in fact received a vote for the NCMP seat in Parliament that would eventually go to Mr Gerald Giam.

The copy of the minutes emailed to the media detailed the exchange of views between party secretary-general Low Thia Khiang and General Election 2011 candidate Eric Tan, who felt he should get the NCMP seat after leading the East Coast GRC to a strong showing at the polls.

Mr Tan would lose the secret ballot to Mr Giam and subsequently resign from the party. However, in the ballot, Mr Png received one vote for the NCMP seat, according to the copy of the minutes.

In the email last night, the anonymous source said: "Nowhere in this meeting did Png Eng Huat indicate to the CEC to remove his name from the ballot. In fact there was one CEC vote for him."

I not surprised Png's name was in secret nomination despite he conveyed (he claimed) to CEC he not want to be considered.

These things happened even in corporate world.

He probably did not even campaign for votes to support nomination for himself which may explained the single vote.

Anyway, I won't read too much into it, unlike petty competitors who think is the 1 and only truth without knowing the full background.

He is digging a deeper hole. If he had indeed used the phrase "taken my name out of the ballot" I just don't see why anyone should interpret it to mean "the name is in the ballot".

Re: Jia lut liao Png Eng Huat lie to the media on his NCMP stand exposed by document

WP's Png Eng Huat: His Lies and the Truth

WP's candidate Png Eng Huat mentioned in the Straits Times today, page A6 that he did not want to the NCMP seat. He claimed that he had made it clear before the GE as he was against the scheme.

"i do not wish for a government to dictate on the number and type of opposition members we can have in Parliament...I had already made it clear to the Secretary-General (Low Thia Kiang) as well as the East Coast tea, that I would not want to be considered.."

But that was not the truth...Images of what seems to be minutes of the extraordinary WP meeting surfaced showing that Png's name was included in the secret ballot to determine the NCMP. Worst of all, he had recieved a drubbing recieving only 1 vote - probably his by the way showing not only that he was not the preferred choice but also the confidence his team mates has on him as a representative.

Why has Png lied? Is he trying to hide the result of the election as it underlines his capability as a representative? Seems like "flip-flopping" one's position seems to be a character trait in all WP members these days.

Png wants Hougang residents to send him to parliament but they need to know the following:

1. Why has Png lied about his participation in the secret ballow?

2. Why did he recieve only 1 vote? Compared to the other WP members, is he really that bad?

3. What assurance do Hougang residents have that Png is capable when he is clearly not even recognised to be better than Gerald and Eric?

4. Why weren't the other members of the East Coast WP team in the ballot? Were these 3 the only interested folks in the NCMP seat? Then why did Png say that he did not agree with the NCMP scheme and did not want to be considered?

5. Low Thia Kiang mentioned that the Party is united but the minutes clearly show fault-lines. Is WP imploding from within?

Perhaps WP should consider addressing these issues in their fiery rally speeches rather than fluff and cheap shots that seem to decorate their speeches.

Trust me, we can handle the truth...even if they are Hard Truths...

That's the second last option for them, isn't it? Last option is to bring somebody to court. Don't think they have anything better than these 2 options to sway votes toward their direction.
