Passengers fight over overcroweded bus...PTC want to approve fare hike somemore..CCB!

Re: Passengers fight over overcroweded bus...PTC want to approve fare hike somemore..

How about cutting down the number of foreign imports:confused:
In the old days,a few years ago, the crowds were manageable:rolleyes:

Foreigners are a necessity in order to broaden the talent pool. Restricting foreigners would help ease the congestion somewhat but the economy would suffer too and Singaporeans will then have to face the spectre of asset deflation and a prolonged recession.

The "people" have never complained of deflation but of PAP driven inflation, e.g. electricity price hike, rental price hike, gst price hikes, public fares hike, ..

Obviously the PAP has grown too big to be satisfied with Spore. Instead of trying to re-mold Spore they are welcome to leave & try their luck elsewhere. I recommend Australia which has more space & resources

Is this Sam-o-nomics?
So what if our HDB flats appreciated to a million dollars. Majority owns only one flat.
You are talking through your arse.

Re: Passengers fight over overcroweded bus...PTC want to approve fare hike somemore..

Increasing the fares should reduce the overcrowding. In fact, fares should be raised on a regular basis till it reaches the point where demand meets supply at a point where those who can afford to pay are assured of a comfortable commute.

Wow porn ad peddler teaching us Economics! That's like watching a monkey drive a car.

No I'm not. I'm simply taking a more worldly view of the situation.

If HDB flats appreciate to 7 figure sums and beyond, it'll enable the HDB owners to cash out, pay off all their loans and still have a sizable amount left to retire in a country where overheads and real estate are very much cheaper.

You need to remove your head from your own arse and think beyond the borders of that tiny little island and adopt the attitude that the whole world is your oyster.

Sam is just giving what are the PAP Minister thinking. Those who find the public transport expensive will eventually take bicycle or walk to work. That will be a very sad day of Singapore. That will happen to Singapore if Singaporean allow Govt to do what they think is right or like.

But eventually, more people will start to vote for opposition. ..... that how things will come out.

most singaporean are lazy ...they rather pay a little bit more then ride to work ( having a maid is a good example ) ( increasing ERP is a good example , does it stop singaporean from owning car ? ) ...ask yourself would you ride to work ? your goverment already knows that no matter how high the price they charge , you will still pay it ...the most just KPKB in forum ;)

Sure. When there is not enough water and electric power for the population just raise prices, so that marginal group can either collect rain water or use candles.

Cycling is not an option in a temperate country where rain is unpredicable.

They should explore triple deck buses with good CG.

Increasing the number of buses may be a practical solution in a country where there is ample space to cater for the increase in traffic. In Singapore, it simply isn't a feasible option. A fare increase is therefore the way to go.

Singapore doesn't have a temperate climate. It's TROPICAL!

Cycling in the rain is not an issue. All you need is good wet weather gear.

I had a bike & motorbike when I was young & from that experience I would not recommend a bicycle or motor bike.

When it rains you have to worry about the cars & trucks hitting those puddles of water & splashing water on you. The splash can knock you over:eek:

Drivers in Spore have a bad habit of being careless when it comes to 2 wheeled vehicles. It's worse when it rains as the visibility is lower.

Rain water can rust a bicycle frame. It happened to my bicycle when I was caught out in the rain. In those days you didn't have alloys & carbon. Even if they did, do you want to risk your expensive bicycle being stolen?

There is also the problem of where to park a bicycle? You can of course find some tree or pole which is technically illegal.

For urban commutes, I use my Dahon. It folds up and I take it with me so the risk of theft is minimal. As for the traffic it's a matter of learning riding defensively and anticipating danger.

Not only that. ultimate overcrowding when it becomes meaningful and economical to have large families again.

My colleagues used to store his mountain bicycle & mini bar fridge in his cubicle but the GM "asked" him to clear those items :)

Can't say I've ever seen anyone lugging a bicycle to work. i've only seen some individuals try to carry one of those foldables onto the MRT trains but that was a long time ago.

The reality in Spore is different from countries like Canada with a temperate climate. Canada has low humidity & when it rains it only drizzles. Some offices are equipped with showering facilities. Life is less hectic there with motorists more willing to give way to cyclists:rolleyes:

Have even seen public buses in Edmonton equipped with bicycle racks:eek:

If it was a practical idea, many Sporeans would have already have done it right:confused:

Re: Passengers fight over overcroweded bus...PTC want to approve fare hike somemore..

That's why fares need to be increased. The marginal group that can currently only just afford the bus fares will be forced to find some other form of transport like walking or cycling. The hike will ease the congestion immediately without the bus company having to make any capital investment whatsoever.

Khong Lan Jiao Wei!:oIo:
