Many reasons:-

1 Capitalised on peasant fear and instill them to vote for papee again.
2 They need stronger mandate to push more hikes since HO JINX has already bankrupt this cuntry and thus:

a. All the more reason to hold back our C Pee F
b No more delay to increase GST to 10 - 12%
c More ERPee gantries from all directions
d They want Clown Council conservancy fee to increase (because of billions of dollars lost thru bad investments)
d and most importantly Papee want greater mandate to further increase their own salary under such difficult time.
3 Instead of concentrating on stabilising the economy they shifted focus on power stability.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Now is the time for change or face the music of more HIKES down the road. Peasants have suffered badly under the tyranny of PAPee in good years after the last election and expect much worst policies from PAPee in bad years. As the saying goes 'once bitten twice shy!!" please take heed and do not act like a fool and let robbers enter your house again and again.

I will not VOTE for a bunch of thieves in good or bad times.

Paradox is that PAP does well in bad times (because people know what is important) and badly in good times (because people are more adventurous). But elections are called by the government of the day (provided the deadline is not exceeded). And the government will call elections when they do well, not when they do badly.

makes no sense. They will only wish to delay it, the longer the better. No election even better.

They strongly believed now is the frightfull period and peasant need a strong pillar to hold so there is no best time to conduct early election. But some analyst warned them what have happened in Thailand and Malaysia and even America. Actually there is no need to warn, their own policies have done a complete flawless damages already. The SIWs will never call for an early election with the doom and gloom already on our shores.

They have another 2 and a half years to go and it'll be political suicide if they call for an election now. With the impending payhikes for themselves and pay freezes for the average person, it will not go down well.

This whole recession will last a good 3 years, we'll only see the impact of a recovering economy in 9 quarters' time, i.e., in 2 years and three months.

Already there is talk that CPF will be reduced (not corporate tax, I wonder why) so that companies are given a lifeline.

Once again, tinkering with the CPF will lead to further unhappiness but Sgeans deserve what they voted in.

I think, one would be more worried if they decide to amend the constitution and state that elections are to be held once every decade. With a rubber stamp President already in place, this should not be a problem.

Perhaps only then the people will revolt, but I can hear the apologists already saying, "Afterall, we always get walkovers, so what's the point of having elections once every 5 years?"

Well if they know they WILL be doing badly in 2011, then it's consider that they are doing well now, so if your logic is correct, they will call the election before shit hits the fan.

I do not think PAP will go for an early elections at this moment, in view of the various blunders like having electricity tariffs hike while oil prices drop.

More likely, we will have the presidential election first and PAP may use this opportunity to do some data collection on the voting patterns within the various constituencies, so that they could micro manage the GRC boundaries more effectively for the next GE.

frankly i really don't understand why we need to pay them millions as they continue to make stupid mistakes again and again and again.....

Possible reasons:

1. They predict the recession will last beyond 2011 so they won't do well in 2011

2. LKY won't live till the next erections.

With the dictatorship they possess, even if they don't call for elections at all, sinkees won't do anything about it.
