In Chinese culture, the seventh day of the lunar new year (初七) is known as Renri (人日), which is believed to be the day humans were created, and hence it is known as the common birthday of humankind.
On this day, I joined the celebrations at
#RiverHongbao2023. The rainy weather didn’t dampen the festive spirit at
Gardens by the Bay!
The lantern exhibits reflect social trends as well as culture, traditions, and values. This is a creative and engaging way to preserve our culture and traditions, and pass them down to the next generation.
Enjoyed meeting the River Hongbao Hackathon 2023 winners from
Temasek Polytechnic,
Singapore Polytechnic, and Yale-NUS College. These creative youth entrepreneurs came up with very interesting green products — including upcycling excess food into pet treats and making sling bags from recycled clothes
Students from
Ngee Ann Polytechnic shared the colourful history of Lunar New Year greeting cards dating back to the 1950s.
Joined Zoe Tay, Elvin Ng and other
Mediacorp artistes backstage as they prepared to put up a spectacular show for the sporting audience who braved the rain for the event.
Here’s wishing everyone a 兔-rrific year ahead!
