This will cost PAP 10,000 votes at the next elections. Citizens don't want to hear that their wishes are ignored and that a columbarium, funeral parlour, whatever it is can be shoved down their throats and put in their neighborhoods whether they like it or not.

This is a very good point that you raise. Its an unfortunate fact that real democracy and real accountability is not taught in schools to our kids and the parents themselves do not educate their young ones accordingly.

The facts are as follows:

1) The people of Sengkang West elected this asshole MP Lampar Min (Testicle Face) to represent their ward and their interests.
2) The people have clearly voiced their displeasure at this upcoming columbarium to Lampar Min, with legitimate concerns such as potential loss of property values, traffic congestion, and the underhanded and conniving way this project was pushed forward.
3) Instead of collecting their viewpoints, summarizing them, and using his influence with the HDB to find out what is happening and to prevent this, he does the opposite.
4) He is now seen with the corporate parties and govt stat boards and firmly in their camp.
5) Which means he is against the people that elected him.

People need to wake up and see this for what it is. They are paying $16,000 per month to an MP THAT DOES NOT REPRESENT OR SUPPORT THEM. Song or Not?

You can't blame HDB for not telling them about the columbrium. They did hint of the possibility in fine print. Fernvale residents signed the contract with their eyes open. If HDB allowed them to refund their bto flats, they are going to suffer greater losses, which is akin raiding the reserves. Should taxpayers have to pay for the mistakes of a few inattentive buyers in a commercial transaction? Should enterprising staff of HDB have their bonuses clawed back for making such a fine deal with Fernvale residents? I think not!

The margin of victory in the last GE by Lampar Min was just over 4,000 votes. or around 16%. After the Tapei Grassroot retreat cum free taxpayer holiday and now this columbarium crap, his 4,000 vote lead is all but gone. I suggest Roy to come to Sengkang West as an independent candidate, and for the other oppo parties to stay out and give the seat to Roy. He will win in a landslide over Lampar Min.

From the leegal standpoint, all angles have been covered by HDB. There is simply no room for discussions with fickle homeowners with buyer's regret. Can I refund my booking for a Bimmer when there are complains about the premium leather cushions causing rashes to some carowners? Does it fundamentally alter the basic function of the car transporting the owner from one place to another? I think not!

Can i sue you for negligence for not telling me that this will cause rashes ? I have doctor's medical report. Will you compensate me or change a new set of cushion for me ? Temple saga: Firm set up 16 days after tender called

The recent revelation that the government is allowing a Chinese temple to be built next to HDB BTO flats in Sengkang West, housing a columbarium, has caused an uproar among the future HDB residents there.

In an effort to soothe the residents’ anxieties, MP Lam Pin Min conducted a town hall meeting with the residents yesterday (4 Jan). However, more questions were raised during the dialogue session.

In particular, as reported in the media, residents were asking why a profit-oriented company was allowed to bid for the development of the Chinese temple cum columbarium.

“We should reserve these lands for our religious organisations”, said resident Alex Tan, “If our religious organisations were to compete with a private entity, in a few years’ time we may find our temples and churches priced out of the market. If a Buddhist temple needs to find new land, they may not be able to do so because private companies are bidding higher prices than what a not-for-profit organisation can pay.”

Another resident, Adrian Choo, said, “Dr Lam, thanks for sharing. But could you please comment on how proper it is for a corporation to tender for a religious site? I would be dismayed if, say, for a church site tender, a private company outbids other churches just for the land, as the company would have access to more resources than a not-for-profit religious body.”

Yet another resident Ms Goh said that she felt “cheated”. She cannot understand why a temple facility is being tendered out to a for-profit organisation and not to a religious or non-profit organisation. In her opinion, a for-profit organisation will definitely seek to maximise profit and it is not known what other expansion plans it has in the future.

That doesn't say the company was 16 days old when the tender was awarded. It says it was registered 16 days before the tender was called.
