Chitchat My secret code to living a financial free life. What's yours?

You are a 孝子.
Last time I used to stay in 5 room then I dg to 4 room and finally to 3 room.

That's also the reason that I condemn your ex mentor for throwing her aged mum to her sil to take the responsibility and ownself stay in condo and shake her 鸡 around and harass people.

Thanks for the compliment.
My aunt told me not many people are willing to quit their job and live with aged parent. But I just thought it is my duty to do this and I will regret later if I never do it. Also I quit becos I doesn't want to be controlled by people anymore :geek:
You honor your parents. This one, you are miles ahead of my ex-mentor.

I have never seen anyone looking after aunt wholeheartedly. His aunt must be extra care for him last time. I only know 1 person who part time looking after his aunt, main objective is for her millions of inheritance.
From what I know, his aunt doted on him from his kindergarten days as he is her only sister's son. His aunt is low on funds, but has a landed home purchased in the 1960s.

The poor aunt left alone with early passings of son and husband.

In my opinion, your real secret code is NOT about thriftiness and exploitation of government schemes.

Your real secret code rests on your ability to overcome the desires of this world.

Actually my current expenditures didn't touched my bank savings at all, and in fact I still can save a little each month.
The monies I'm using are from
1. Bank interest
2. Cpf interest
3. Pap handouts
4. Sg pool winnings

I guess sometime from now I should extend my spendings from 1.5-2k per mth to 2.5k per mth and gradually extend it again. Or else in future I can't bring it with me also. Not forgetting in less than 10 years time (if I'm still alive) there will be cpf life payout monthly.

Yes, the money you spent in your lifetime is 財產; the money that you accumulated during your lifetime (and unspent) is 遺產.

Most of us tend to be cautious in our spending no matter how much we earn or have set aside, so end up leaving behind up to 70% of our wealth when we pass away.

This is true too.
I do still have desires but I need not have it on daily basis.
Eg if I want to have the feel of driving, I can rent it.
If I want charbor, just pay as I use.
Just a short term leepossesion is good enough and doesn't make much difference of owning it.

That is because you are able to differentiate between the satisfaction of use (用的滿足感) vs satisfaction of ownership (擁有的滿足感).

Absolutely true.
I'm currently working on this to overcome the fear of spending money.

My younger brother, was generous and spent freely while he was working full-time. However, he became noticeably more tight-fisted after retiring early at age 50, even though he has substantial passive income. I guess he just wants to err on the side of caution. There is nothing wrong in being more frugal.

I started to earn good salaries in my late 20s to mid 30s.
Unfortunately I wasn't a wise men then and didn't have the habit of saving.
I spent all my good incomes with cars, travels, and treating people unnecessarily. The thought of retirement planning never crossed my mind.

The day when I was terminated from my good income job due to some greedy crimes committed, it was a wakeup call for me.
But I was able to get another job within 2 months, at a 40% cut. At that time the industry I worked in started the outsourcing trend, suppressing salaries.

From then onwards, I knew the importance of savings.
I started to be very careful of my expenditures and I saved about 80% of my salary every month.
I also realised I was not going to be a slave for later part of my life I.e 55 onwards. This thought made me the discipline to save more and more, sometimes even 90% of it. With aws and perf bonus 100%.of it.

I carried the same mindset for the next 20 years.
Last year when I looked at my bank account, I decided I was almost ready.
But before I threw the towel, I started to do my researches on all the means to exploit pap for any extra incomes being an unemployed jlb.
At the same time, I had already fully commissioned my soccer bettings secret code.
I'm not a greedy person, so I set a target that is achievable, and uat it for a few months.
I was then ready to take the plunge and I threw the towel to much astonishment from all my peers. They thought I striked Toto and was envying me even upto today.

I'm now a financially free person and the relieve of not requiring to Leeport to anyone is the best feeling I ever had, compared to the time of having high incomes driving cars.
Well done uncle. As for me, because I need to support two ex-wives and a few mistresses, I will be working until the day I die.:frown:
