Man Utd squad facing revolution after Moyes confirms clearout plans

Manchester United’s squad could undergo a revolution over the next two transfer windows.

United boss David Moyes has announced plans to sell several of his underperforming first teamers in the last 24 hours.

The Mail on Sunday says Ashley Young, Nani and Antonio Valencia have struggled, England pair Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck, as well as Javier Hernandez, Anderson and Alex Buttner, have not proved themselves, while veterans Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra are unlikely to be offered new contracts.

I was delighted to see Darren Fletcher back in action for the first team last weekend.
He is neither a great player nor the answer to Man Utd's midfield woes, but he epitomises the grit, determination, attitude and all-out effort fans would expect from the highly paid BPL footballer.

Although Moyes has made mistakes in his first season with a really big club and at times looks a little bewildered, the players have done him no favours. Some of their attitude and effort stink.
There will be many Man Utd players which get a "can-do-better" mid term report card, but there are 3 who should definitely be let go, imho:

1. Anderson
-- He is not without quality, his forte is running with the ball past opponents, and when he is on his game, he does that really well. But more often than not, there is no end product, i.e. killer pass or good shot at the end of his runs. He looks unfit, he is highly inconsistent, injury prone and at times looks disinterested.

2. Ashley Young
-- His last good game was the 8-2 drubbing of Arsenal, how many seasons ago was that now? He looks like the type who got his big payday at a big club and thought he made it and totally took his eye off the ball. Some would say literally.
To top it off, he doesn't learn from his mistakes, including the diving debacles and his general poor play.

3. Rio Ferdinand
-- He was a great player for the club but his time at the club should now end.
He can still be a good contributor at a lower level club, but not at champions league and BPL top four level.
For someone who is not a major contributor and has no potential to improve, he talks too much and his focus on the football side is insufficient.
Having said that, he was indeed a top defender at his prime and a good thinker/analyser of the game.

Agree. The players you mentioned should go asap. The key is to get players who are versatile. It would be good if they have leadership qualities.

with Moyes.................little money to buy a new team of stars..............current players either useless or old................

I can say we'll see Liverpool winning the league before Man U win again..................

As much as I like to believe that, I think they need to beat Chelsea and City who may just dominate the Premier League in the next few years.

They should sell these players if the money is right- Nani, Cleverley, Kagawa and RVP ie. if he wants to leave. I have a funny suspicion that Moyes may just offload Vidic in January or June.

It will be City vs United in the finals and perhaps our only realistic chance of winning any silverware- THE MICKEY MOUSE CUP!!

I never say time frame mah........but the way Man U is going, Liverpool will win the league before Man U...........

I don't expect to see Liverpool win the league in my lifetime though.........

Our former super-sub Ole Gunnar S, off to West Brom?

All those teams above MU won in their respective last weekend fixtures too. 1 or 2 of them are going to drop some points tomorrow morning though. :p

Roma open Man Utd talks for fullback Buttner

AS Roma are eyeing Manchester United fullback Alexander Buttner.

The young Dutchman is set to leave United next month, which was confirmed by his agent last week.

Roma are keen to tempt Buttner to Italy and hope to set up a six-month loan arrangement with United in the coming weeks.

The Giallorossi will push to include the option to sign Buttner permanently in June.

Also Genoa:

Alexander Buttner is set to leave Manchester United in the January window,

The Dutch left-back, 24, who arrived from Vitesse Arnhem in a £5million deal just 16 months ago, is on course to move to Italy.

Both Roma and Genoa are interested in signing him, although both would prefer to take him on loan for the remainder of the season before deciding whether to commit to a permanent deal.

Even though United have been searching for a long term successor to Patrice Evra, Buttner has failed to take his chance and is now deemed surplus to requirements.

Chase for Ron from money bags RM :p

Why you see Sunderland and West Ham no up? Upsets happen often in cup games.

Sometimes, might just work well for a player moving to new turf (other times, opposite). Continental style diff from more physical EPL
