Manchester United 2013/2014

It is possible that Robbie Savage has better ideas about football than Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville, even though his football skills are closer to Phil's than Ryan's.

write off this season. the fight is to avoid relegation & then ask Glazer for huge influx of cash to shore up the team over 2 seasons. Look at Tottenham, a huge injection of talent this season but nearly destabilize the team and is now sputtering.

My opinion, is to shore up firstly the midfield - its been sorely lacking since Keane left. Nevermind defence or striker - thats for another season. Concentrate on injecting talent into the midfield. I still have hopes for Fellani to turn out good, recall Ronaldo when he first arrive in OT he is still raw.

Januzaj and Zaha shld be the bedrock for future. He shld continue the fine tradition of Man U, wingers, strong midfield, fear for no one....ship out Anderson, Young. Kagawa & Nani shld be given chance. Valencia could be useful but not as first choice.

Defence, we have Phil Jones, Evans, Smalling which can still hold the fort. Evra needs replacement - bid for Luke Shaw before Arsenal gets him.

Another right back shld also be considered...hence that will mean 3 players, 4 max. otherwise it will destablise the team.

Luke Shaw is a Chelsea fan, and Ashley Cole will be shipped out soon. ;)

Always felt that Jones plays best shielding the back 4. He'll make a good utility player. Leave the strikers alone or at least give them another season after you've beef up the midfield. The service from the flanks and midfield is simply the worst it has been. Get a good centre back and find cover for Evra if Buttner cannot make the cut.

They'll need at least two midfielders. Whatever it is, Moyes cannot sit on his palms and expect United's fortune to turn around. Take on a player on loan if he must this January, otherwise he'll see RVP and Roon leaving next summer.

Well if he has to get Wesley Sneijder, then get him. He'll make a certain United fan happy like a lark.:D

Never ending speculation on Roon to Chelskis :p

Chelsea's Wayne Rooney transfer from Manchester United back on radar for next summer
11 Dec 2013 22:31

Londoners who tried and failed to buy the England star in August encouraged by fact he has yet to be offered new deal

Deal or no deal: Will Rooney sign for Chelsea rather than Manchester United?

Chelsea are on red alert to make a second bid for Wayne Rooney after it emerged the England striker is still waiting for a new Manchester United contract offer.

Jose Mourinho’s Blues made the Scouse ace their prime target last summer, only giving up in the final days before the transfer window closed despite not going beyond their opening £24million bid.

The Rooney bid stalled with Chelsea unwilling to make a bigger big before Rooney put in an official transfer request, while the England striker needed a public signal from the Blues to allow him to make his move.

But the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are now ready to go back in for Rooney next summer after discovering champions United have made NO attempt to tie him down to a new deal.

Rooney’s current contract has only 18 months to run, but it is understood there have been no talks about a new offer and that none have been planned or scheduled.

That comes despite Rooney’s superb form for David Moyes’ troubled Reds, top-scoring with 10 goals from 19 appearances.

Unless United make their move soon, Rooney will be left with a decision to make over whether the club is as committed to him as he has shown himself to be to them this season.

It means Old Trafford chiefs risk Rooney going into the summer with just 12 months left on his contract - the same position as Arsenal were in when Robin Van Persie forced his cut-price move from the Emirates to United in summer 2012.

Mourinho appears resigned to sticking with Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba for the rest of this season, despite his private frustrations over the quality of attacking options at his disposal.

Chelsea now feel that they would simply not get the players they might want - such as Rooney or Monaco’s Radamel Falcao - for the right market price in the winter window

Yup. Even if he's offered new terms, he'll not sign it until the club matches his ambition and that goes with RVP too. Truth is they won't have enough $$$ to buy any quality players and the budget will be slashed further if they dun qualify for CL.

Methinks Moyes will have only 20 million pounds to spend on players next season. He'll have to sell 3-4 players to raise capital if he wants more. My bet is he'll go back to Everton and acquire Baines and Jagielka.

Hedge fund chief bets on Manchester Utd misfortunes

English soccer club Manchester United may have broken its losing streak with a win against Shakhtar Donetsk this week, but speculation over manager David Moyes' team isn't over -- and not just on the pitch.

As reported by This Is Money, British hedge fund manager Crispin Odey, who runs Odey Asset Management, has taken a $22 million short position in the New York-listed club. A short position means an investor borrows a company's stock and then sells it, ahead of an anticipated drop in the share price, when they can then buy the share back at a much lower price.

Manchester United open talks with Inter Milan over Fredy Guarin

http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/12/manch...s-with-inter-milan-over-fredy-guarin-4228808/

Manchester United have kick-started their January recruitment drive by opening talks with Inter Milan over a deal for midfielder Fredy Guarin.

United boss David Moyes has been promised sizable funds to improve his under-fire team in the new year, and work has begun this week on trying to sign players.

The club want to bag at least two midfielders, with a creative type and a box-to-box enforcer topping the list of targets.

Inter ace Guarin fits into the latter category, and reports in Italy claim that United representatives have made contact over a deal.

The 27-year-old is valued at £15million but it’s thought that United hope they can get him for around £10million, with negotiations ongoing.

Guarin, famed for his bullish approach, has previously been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham and is enjoying a solid season for Inter

Good. A step in the right direction by Moyes. Guarin(midfielder) is a South American version of Nani. Looks like Nani is on his way out. I am glad he also had a look at Mangala(central defender).

RVP out for one month with a thigh strain.

Koke is not going to leave Atletico Madrid for Man Utd. AM have a bigger chance of winning champions league this season than MU.
If you have watched them in action this season, AM even have a chance to win la liga.
Moreover Koke has been at AM since he was a boy. It's like trying to get Iniesta from Barca.

The hard truth is: playing for David Moyes is a career downgrade.

In fact, I think some current Man Utd players are already secretly plotting their exit from Old Trafford.

RVP is top of the list. Like Rooney, he wants Moyes to bring in quality players. If Moyes insist on bringing in Everton players, you can be sure that RVP and Roon will head for the exit.

AM is the dark horse I'm betting on to lift CL but not la liga.

Manchester United turn to Porto’s Alex Sandro as pursuit of Leighton Baines stalls

Porto left back Alex Sandro is being eyed-up by Manchester United with their attempts to prise away Leighton Baines from Everton appearing to stall.

The Toffees defender is David Moyes’ preferred choice as the long-term successor to Patrice Evra, whose deal expires at the end of the season.

However, having failed to land their man twice during the summer and with Champions League-chasing Everton determined to cling on to the England international at least until the end of the season, United have identified Sandro as a possible alternative.

Moyes watched the 22-year-old in action in Porto’s 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid last week and is believed to be ready to make his move when the transfer window opens in January.

The Brazilian joined Porto for £8million in 2011 from Santos and has six caps for his country

I was delighted to see Darren Fletcher back in action for the first team last weekend.
He is neither a great player nor the answer to Man Utd's midfield woes, but he epitomises the grit, determination, attitude and all-out effort fans would expect from the highly paid BPL footballer.

Although Moyes has made mistakes in his first season with a really big club and at times looks a little bewildered, the players have done him no favours. Some of their attitude and effort stink.
There will be many Man Utd players which get a "can-do-better" mid term report card, but there are 3 who should definitely be let go, imho:

1. Anderson
-- He is not without quality, his forte is running with the ball past opponents, and when he is on his game, he does that really well. But more often than not, there is no end product, i.e. killer pass or good shot at the end of his runs. He looks unfit, he is highly inconsistent, injury prone and at times looks disinterested.

2. Ashley Young
-- His last good game was the 8-2 drubbing of Arsenal, how many seasons ago was that now? He looks like the type who got his big payday at a big club and thought he made it and totally took his eye off the ball. Some would say literally.
To top it off, he doesn't learn from his mistakes, including the diving debacles and his general poor play.

3. Rio Ferdinand
-- He was a great player for the club but his time at the club should now end.
He can still be a good contributor at a lower level club, but not at champions league and BPL top four level.
For someone who is not a major contributor and has no potential to improve, he talks too much and his focus on the football side is insufficient.
Having said that, he was indeed a top defender at his prime and a good thinker/analyser of the game.

Jw5, tha Zaha bloke was unimpressive 2 matches ago too

Expect a physical game from Stoke. That is the only way Hughes knows how to play it.
