I don't care what LHY's personal reason is for entering politics if he chooses to do so. He will never tell any of us what his real reason is. In my personal opinion, he is doing everything for self preservation. Because if his brother and the PAP remain in power, his sons cannot come home. His real reasons for going into politics (and that is a if), does not matter to you and me. As long as his entering politics align with our objectives and target, then we should all be behind him. The objective is to create discomfort and fear in the PAP. The objective is to reduce the number of seats they hold and reduce their percentage of votes won. This is the right analysis. In terms of public goodwill, LHY and TCB has more then half the cabinet Ministers combined. The dirty linen washing is just the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot more shit out there that Ling and Hsien Yang have not aired. The 2 of them have to strategize which harmful revelations to reveal in public against the brother and the SIL. They have to be careful for 2 reasons. That such revelations a) do no implicate them b) that they have solid and irrefutable proof, and have this proof and evidence secured in an untouchable place. So far, they have only restricted themselves to affairs of their fathers estate and Oxley. But discussions at the dinner table, private chats with Pinky in happier times, etc. all these have not been revealed. Do you think for example that Yang and Ling do not have a very good idea of what the Ho earns in compensation? Sure they do. They are just choosing not to discuss that in public.


The fact of the matter is that the opposition has consistently polled 30% or more in most elections. In some elections, like 2 elections ago, they polled 40%. I don't know where u get 80% from. Which means to say that if you have proportional representation, the oppo should have about 30 seats in Parliament. You therefore only need a swing of 10-21% of votes to deny the PAP a majority. Some people are die hard PAP and they will never vote for anyone else. Oppo parties know better then to target their message at these people. Some people are die hard oppo and will never vote for the PAP. Others are swing voters who can be pursauded to vote one way or another depending on their personal circumstance. In my opinion, the oppo have not done enough to get these voters. There has been no bold platform and sweeping changes proposed that these swing voters need to hear. But if the oppo ever gets their shit together, they can easily win another 10% and maybe even 20% of the votes.

HC's salary will be revealed. Such things are not state secret and cant be swept under the carpet for long

The irony is that the anti PAP people tend to be the ones who are educated and well to do. However their dissatisfaction with the PAP doesnt always translate into votes for the oppies.
